I know it says it is the Impala but trust me, it is the Malibu. It has been proven on other forums. And before someone says something the car above is not the next generation Malibu which will be rear wheel and come out in 2010. That all being said I would say that this is a great improvement over the current Malibu. Reminds me a little of the Merc CLS in the belt line.

And to compare:

It that a burnout?

I've never seen that in a spy shot.

It is still based on the Epsilon platform which is front wheel drive. But in 2010 a rear wheel drive Malibu will be coming out.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible to make a car more plain than the existing Malibu.

I was right, they took the plainest car on the market and slaped it a couple times with an Ugly Stick. images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

Yeah, just gravel and they were trying to get away from the camera I bet.

Not any more hopeless than the Camrys and Accords flying off our dealer lots. This isn't an enthusiast's super sedan; it's a family car, and FWD still makes some sense here.

Looks really sharp, a vast improvement over the last one. Then again, anything is, really. But wow, looks like they sure made it much bigger!

It does look a lot better then the current Malibu. And this test car seems to be set up for dual exhaust. If that's the case, I wonder if the Malibu will be similar to the Pontiac G6 and have a 6speed manual and have coupe or convertible body styles later on. ? Could be cool, until the RWD comes out.

I like it. The car looks lower and better-proportioned than the old one (though that could just be because it's bigger), and the fuzzy dice are a nice touch. Will they be standard in the production model? images/smilies/tongue.gif

I still can't make myself like that car, even as a practical family saloon. It's just too ugly. I'm afraid I still prefer the Nissan Altima to it. In pretty much every way that matters to me, the Altima is a much better car.

And I'm not being biased just cos I have an Altima now. The new Camry isn't bad, but it has an image problem.

It was awesome, I was out on Saturday and I literally saw 3 Camrys in a row. Same metallic grey colour.

About 30 seconds later I heard an ad on the radio about the new Camry. images/smilies/cry.gif

Anyways, it looks better then the old one from what I can tell. I'd have to see it without that silly checkered flag lookign deal on it. It hurts my eyes images/smilies/wacko.gif

What can you say? Its a Malibu. It is not meant to be exciting or racy or have edgy styling. It transports humans from one destination to another in relative comfort and safety. And its affordable and insurance rates are low. It is, as with the majority of Chevrolet vehicles, utilitarian.

The days of fast ,bold and exciting Chevrolets ended in 1973.

*Edit* - It should be interesting when average Americans start buying average sedans with rear wheel drive; almost two generations are used to front wheel drive, and here in the Midwest FWD does have its advantages in the winter. Sad to say, my fellow citizens have become too complacent and lax insofar as driving skills are concerned.

The interior of the Malibu makes me physically ill! I rode in one a few days in a row and just could not look at it. There was a thread on AudiWorld.com where a guy got one as a rental and he was trying to describe the experience. It was one of the funnies things I have ever, ever read.

Here is part 1 of the mailbu story: http://forums.audiworld.com/rockymtn/msgs/41552.phtml
