ive driven the Malibu, and there is not a single thing memorable about it. Not particularly fast, not particularly torquey, has no handling characteristics i can mention, the interior is has nothing you wouldnt expect, the exterior is unmemorable etc. That being said, it would function perfectly as a family sedan, but absolutley nothing more.

It just oozes FWD. A lot of cars (not all) you can tell they are front wheel drive just by looking at them.

I had the disfortune of driving one from St. Louis to Denver and back. It was seriously, just a car. There wasn't a single thing it did that made you like it or hate it.

So basically everything you said in different words images/smilies/tongue.gif

It looks a bit big to be the Malibu, about right for the Impala. I guess GM decided not to go RWD with the Chevy's afterall images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

As I said, this car is a stop gap until the next generation Malibu comes out in 2010. As for the CLS remark, look at the doors and the space between where the glass starts and the top of the door.

You're talking about the teardrop roofline. That's nothing special really, a lot of Japanese cars have it.

I was just saying that it reminded me a little of the CLS.

I noticed that too. It seems to have a bit of an arc through the middle. I like that part of the car, the rest is ugs.

Looking at GM's situation 2010 could be already too late -_-

And i can't see how RWD would improve such a car. In this class it only costs interior space, because it is too soft sprung and unprecise anyway to be a good drive. Isn't it a car supposed to be practical?

There's just a big thing about RWD. And part of it is GM seems to think because Chryslers 300c did so well, it must have been the RWD. Not because it can (in many peoples eyes anyway) be made to look a suprising bit like a Bentley.

Plus all the drag racers and sports car guys want RWD. I'll wager most of chevy's line up stays FWD even after 2010.

jetsetter I was only messing with you on the CLS thing. images/smilies/bangin.gif

Is is just me or are they taking bus styling and putting it on a car?

Hopefully the car itself it will be better built than its predacesors. When I was visiting Vancouver the door didn't work on the one my uncle was driving after I got in.

^ How the hell are those two similar? Remember, it's still a prototype, the final version won't have the popular checkered "Boy Scout Tent/Glad Trash Bags" option.

The Toyota in his avatar looks more like the bus.

And you would ( images/smilies/wink.gif )I would if the car was ugly but it is not in my opinion. Its front end design is based off the SS concept car from a few years ago.
