Honestly, this is ridiculous. The new Focus doesn't have massaging seats either. MASSAGING SEATS.
You know how it is, Japanese manufacturers can do no wrong. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

It certainly grabs your attention, unlike the last one.

Then again it's the 'Love it or Hate it' styling. Either you like it, or you don't and there's very little middle ground. images/smilies/smile.gif

UK car prices are usually more expensive. You can't be sure until they get here. I still don't understand why they are using a 10 year old platform...

I hate those ugly Ford grills. They look worse on the SUV's they do! Ford America should hire some new designers....but they probably can't afford to right now.

The 500 is just boring and the design doesn't flow from front to back. It just looks boring.

Can someone tell me if the 500 is something the cops will use? It just looks like one of those cars...

The Focus we see here is the first one, so, I guess it's kind of a miracle they managed to get a so different face to it. Ok, an ugly one , but different. The euro Focus is not going to the US because, as was said before, there it is a budget car. Here, rumours tell Ford is going to give the first Focus (still in production) a face-lift to make it look the euro one. The US Ford could at least have done that...

no the 500 is for people that would also consider a Buick. Large car for little money. The Crown Vic has always been the Ford that cops use

I didn't mind the previous Five Hundred's design. Not the most exciting, but stately and conservative without showing-off. This, however, they set about ruining it. They just tacked-on a new stupid-looking front end on an unchanged body and it doesn't line-up as nice.

And the new Focus is disgusting. I mean, why can't they get their collective heads out of their asses and bring-in the Euro Focus already? And no hatchback version? Oh yeah, Americans don't like hatchbacks. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Ford is shooting themselves in the foot again, and again, and again. And they wonder why they're losing tons of money.

Why does the focus coupe look like the hyundai coupe / tiburon?

I'm sorry. I really really want Ford to come back to the front line of car design but images/smilies/puke.gif

People are going on about how to bring in the Euro Focus and the like.

I have an idea. Sell the Euro Focus/Mondeo and the Aussie Falcon in the US with the Mercury badge! Keep the 500/Fusion/US Focus for the tightarses, have the better vehicles sold as Mercurys, where they're able to demand higher prices. Basically, do what GM are doing with Saturn. (I know about the whole Merkur thing, but these cars are bigger, and they're using an already established name rather than a new one that the typical American couldn't pronounce)

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the exterior on that new Focus (especially the big chrome bars on the grille), but the interior doesn't look too bad.

The rear of the Focus actually reminds me of a BA-BF Ford Falcon (or even more of the Aussie Fairlane)

And that'd give Ford Australia more development money, so we might be able to get a decent V8 and better handling!Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the 5.4 V8, but the performance is a bit lacking next to the Uber-ugly VE Commodore. It would also secure the future of the Falcon, which isn't that great at the moment(better than the Mitsu 380 though)...

Deano's idea FTW!

Mercury as a name here in canada is pretty much non-existant because they couldn't sell them very well here. I don't know how mercury is doing in the states, but from what i've seen in Canada, that would be the end of ford if they tryed that. I don't know one canadian who owns a mercury.

Any americans able to comment on how Mercury is doing in the U.S.?

About the same as they have been. Which is marginally better than they're doing in Canada.

Granted they do sell very well...to the retired.
