Default 2008 Nissan Rouge

Quote:
Nissan has revealed its 2008 Rogue crossover, which will be on display at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit early next month. It will go on sale in September 2007 at Nissan dealers nationwide.

The 2008 Nissan Rogue will be available in two models, Rogue S and Rogue SL, each with a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)) and 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). An all-new all-wheel drive system with yaw moment control is also available on both S and SL models.

Available technology features include Intelligent Key, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, satellite radio and a powerful Bose–developed audio system with AUX input and MP3 playback.
Rogue also offers a long list of standard safety features, including front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupants.

http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/4760/112008nissanrogueyt7.jpg

I think this will be a real winner, but, about 6 years too late. Think of it as the mini Murano. The 2.5 liter is an excellent engine, with a flat usable torque band, and the CVT is refined and dependable.

Murano, Qashqai and now this? Has Nissan introduced personalized car names?

Isn't Murano an Itallian City famous for it's art (glass specifically) and I thought Qashqai was an indigenous people somewhere...Oh, and Rouge was was a member of the X-Men.

Would've been interesting if it was launched with the Murano, now it's just bleh. Pass.

I agree, it's boring in every sense. Also I'm looking at that shot of the steering wheel and the driving position looks too cramped for someone my size, a complaint I have with most Nissans I drive or ride in.

So is this a rogue or a rouge. Either way, I'm not buying one.

Why would anyone buy this car? I don't see its purpose.

Speed? 4 cylinder engine, I don't think so
Off road ability? Bugger all ground clearance, piss-weak AWD system and shitty tyres. I don't think so.
Practicality? Just take a look at the back. No room for luggage, let alone a third row of seats.
Style? It looks like it has a disease.

It is supposed to give the car a sporty feel so the middleaged man with 3 kids and no purpose in this world could somehow make his everyday trip to work somehow more exciting because he can feel like driving a powerful sportscar.

Pure and crisp, 100 % bullcrap yes, but that's what I think the carindustry is trying to do.

Guess I'm not the only one who thought it looked like a Kia...

And it does look like the Qashqai, minus the body cladding...not exactly something I'd jump on. Then again, I'm not a crossover fan, but hopefully this will help to ease soccer moms out of the larger beasts and into smaller ones...
