Hey, Aston refreshes their designs at least.

They copy and pase a lot of excellence for a while, then they copy and pase a lot of awesomeness, then they copy and paste a lot of coolness... images/smilies/tongue.gif

Yeah, cause the Aston Martin Lagonda and the DB9 look the same images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

But yes, the 993, 996, 997, 987 and 987 all look pretty much the same.

Yeah, I don't actually think it's that bad, it kind of completes the range with the other designs. You need some continuity in a range, but it's far from perfect...

I think this looks really good, although I think the rear end is a little bit out of place. Jaguar has finally shown an ability to renew themselves (like they used to do under Lyons) and create genuinely interesting cars. In many ways I think this design is very fitting for a car like the XJ, if they want to stay competitive. It's obvious that the old design did not give them enough interior space (of rather high importance in a luxury car). Over all I think it is a step on from the XF, but I don't see the point of two nearly identically powered cars in the range (470 hp vs 510 hp, both from the same supercharged V8)

Tata Motors Ltd will build as many as 25,000 Jaguar XJ luxury cars annually, starting next quarter, in a bid to take customers from Bayerische Motoren Werke AG’s 7 Series and Daimler AG’s Mercedes S Class.

The aluminum-body sedan would be built at the company’s Castle Bromwich, England, factory, Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director, said in an interview in Detroit. The least expensive version will start at $72,000 in the US, he said, and can cost as much at $115,000 with all available options.

Callum said the US would account for about half the car’s sales. Through October, Jaguar sold 1,082 XJs in the US, down from 2,038 during the same period in 2008, according to Autodata Corp, based in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. The automaker discontinued production of the previous model in March. “Unlike the previous XJ, which reflected a more traditional English look, the new vehicle is thoroughly modern and stylish,” Callum said. “Jaguar is about creating cars for their time.”

Ford Motor Co sold the Jaguar and Land Rover brands to Mumbai, India-based Tata in June 2008 for $2.4 billion. That was less than half the price Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford paid for the UK auto makers.

The new Jaguar sedan “has a uniqueness and differentiation going for it”, said Eddie Alterman, editor-in-chief of Car & Driver. “The Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 series are sold in pretty high volumes and are concentrated in the same ZIP codes.”

I like it, headlights seem a bit squinty and the black C-Pillar is weird otherwise it's alright.

I just read another article where it mentions that those rear pillars are painted black...but it's different than the black you can have for the rest of the car. Odd.

I love it. It's like a cooler Citroën C6 without any of the drawbacks.
I'm sill amazed at how the XF looks even better in person than in pictures, so I wonder what this will be like.

Missed this thread, but I think it looks absolutely soopoib, inside and out.

You people who think it's ugly and wrong need to get your head examined.
Either that or you're one of those people who are never happy
