Default 2011 Porsche 998

Quote:
The next Porsche 911, due in summer 2012, will be an all-new model. Porsche is not prepared to take any revolutionary steps with the styling, so while it might look similar to the current 911 don’t be fooled; nearly every panel on this 911 coupé and cabrio will be new. The car will be slightly longer (almost 4500mm across the range) and wider (around 1860mm on the base Carrera and 25mm extra on the Turbo). These alterations are down to a modified steel floorpan, which has a wheelbase extended by 50mm to 2400mm, and new suspension.

I think I love mules much more than the actual finished product.

This 911 is going to be beautiful, fuck all you that say "Porsche doesn't design." This is going to be one hell of a good looking car.

They don't. The 911's a great looking car, but show me one that was drastically different to the one before it.

That's because the 911 shape was designed back when Porsche had designers, instead of firing them all and replacing them with Xerox's latest and greatest.

Why? Why does anyone care? If Ferrari still built a 250 GTO and only make minor improvements would it make it any less brilliant?

They don't need to. The current 997 is the pinnacle of Porsche 911 design: it manages to capture the evolved look of the 993 with the modern technology of the 996, and we're all the better for it.

I agree, my post was only in reply to prost who told everyone that says "Porsche doesn't do design" to sod off. They really don't do design, just freshen up the original, which is all that needs to be done when it looks like that.

My thoughts exactly.

I want them to bring the full whale tale back. The duck tail was nice with the 2010 911sc, but I want more.
