Although i didn't like the Vanquish to much, the DB9 and Vantage are perfectly balanced, and are a joy for the eye. ![]() ![]() About the engine, How on earth can it be reliable in a streetcar. It looks like that AM under this new management has picked up some old habbits. So it's just gonna be a shortened DBS?

. I just think the DBS and now this Vantage RS, with their upgraded aerodynamic feats, don't look as clean and as balanced as the original versions of the design.

Agreed, Aston is nowadays adding too much bling to their cars. I really don't like the look of the clear taillights that were introduced on the DBS.
Aston's are what they are because they look understated and almost sedate. They now seem to be moving away from this philosophy which is no good for me. Quote:

still cant tell the difference except for the RX-8 spoiler. They should just sell one Aston w/ some various trim and engine options they're pretty much doing that anyways.

Thats big news. Something you really wouldn't expect from Aston Martin.
They should still keep the design basic and clean, nobody wants to see Aston full of vents, diffusers and spoilers. Yeah, the DBS is just that and it's first design by Aston in years that nobody seems to like. |

I like it. The problem is that it's just a DB9 with a bodykit.

Aston Martin are making all these models that appeal to the 10 year old boy in us all....but where is the commercial sense??? I would rather see a Vanquish replacement or the development of the Rapide than this. Although it will be quite spastic.

Just a little clearup, it's not the engine from the dbr9 racecar, but the dbrs9 roadgoing version of that car.

I love the idea, but the way they restyled the car really ruins it for me. I don't know how they did it, but they took the most beautiful and understated car and somehow made it look not only more bland but more vulgar at the same time. I personally never realized how delicate the lines of he AMV8 were that they could be so easily messed up by a simple body kit.
Hopefully its just that flat metallic blue, but somehow that car just really doesn't light my fire. Oh, and they interior on the concept is TERRIBLE. Grey with flat grey panels and some grey alcantara, hideous. ![]() Incase somebody missed it, I LOVE the regular AMV8 inside and out, this one just looks way too bland in every way (as well as vulgar.) I also am a fan of aerodynamically functional bodywork, but somehow they just did not at all succeed in blending the beauty with function on this prototype. DBS looks fine, not sure if its as elegent, but whatever. Last edited by Ottobon; December 12th, 2007 at 3:40 AM. |

EXACTLY! ...Apart from the more powerful engine. I'm getting a bit bored with Aston Martin's design these days. They don't really change much. And actually, if you look at the 15 year old DB7 it doesn't look all that different to the new DB9, DBS and Vantage. IMO, the Vantage should've looked different - more aggresive - like the old Vantage. |

actually, the bodykit is meant to make it look like a street version of the DBR9. and it does it pretty well i might add.
![]() ![]() you guys REALLY need to understand the DBS and its purpose. Aston Martin built it as a watered down version of the DBR9. meaning they had to take some of it's race car cues and throw it onto a street car. but with all of the cues being ALOT less agressive than the DBR9's cues without taking away that it still is a street version of the DBR9. so no, its not all this "added bling" that you guys keep referring it to. and IceBone, does it really matter? both have the 600hp 5.9L V12 race engine. |
