I take it that this is just the "Hummer" brand and not AM General? Because AM General has to be a cash cow right now. God knows that the civilian Hummer models need to die a slow, slow painful death. I'd be really surprised if GM could actually sell a re-bodied, extra-useless Suburban to anyone, but hey, who knows.

I love that there are no HUGE lengthily posts about how this is a great economic decision, or how it's awful for the economy, or how hummer has been dying for years.

They're all short concise posts like "Figures..." and "Surprise, surprise images/smilies/rolleyes.gif". Everyone saw this coming. Who cares?

Yes, and it is still based off the newest Frontier chassis. They have now instead of the lethargic 3.3 V6, the new 4.0 liter V6. At my workplace, they quietly sell; for people outside of N.A., think of the Xterra as a Nissan Patrol, just no diesel offering.

Or a 4.8L straight-six, or a solid front axle, or 7 seats, or...

I could find you a picture of any SUV stuck off roading. You guys make it seem like its a Hummer exclusive event, getting stuck. Give me a fucking break.

And who is going to buy Hummer?

Xterra is still available. It beat out the FJ Cruiser, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hummer H3 in the Car and Driver offroading comparison:

Snapping a tie rod on scrabble isn't, though.

The H2 has shit for articulation and the chassis was never designed for offroad use. The early models would actually crack the steering knuckle if you bumped a curb just the wrong way! The visibility is shit so you can't see where you are putting your tires and GM still hasn't bothered to fix the problem of snapping tie rods.

Of course, the Xterra didn't win for being the best offroader, the H3 took that spot by a large margin, it was the Xterra being such a good compromise of on-road and off-road capability that won the comparison. The Xterra is an excellent SUV though. Very capable.

No. The need to sell GMC firstm which would be incredibly easy as it's just a carbon copy of Chevy. Then Buick would probably next. I spoke with a dealer friend who has been selling GM vehicles for the last 20 years and he said GMC is going to be first. Rumors are spreading that GM should only be Caddilac and Chevy, and that's it. Kinda scary.

Maybe GM should keep Saturn

Saturn - Bargain brand
Chevrolet - Main stream brand
Cadillac - Luxury brand

It would be harder to sell GMC than it would be to sell HUMMER, especially since GMC's are literally just Chevy's with the badges changed; they don't even bother to change the styling. GMC, and really all brands that are "SUV-centric", just need to die.

So much for Jeep and Land Rover, then. images/smilies/tongue.gif
