Default Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Concept

Quote:
GM assembles a Raptor-ish off-roader.
BY JAKE HOLMES
November 2009

Debuting suspiciously soon after Ford’s desert-pounding F-150 SVT Raptor went on sale, the Chevrolet ZR2 concept shows that GM likes to play in the dirt, too.

The ZR2 started life as an extended-cab/short-box Silverado, gaining a gratuitous helping of carbon fiber for the fender flares, hood, tailgate, and side skirts. Carbon-fiber components are clearcoated to show off the material’s weave pattern, while the rest of the body gets rather subdued Dune Metallic paint. The truck’s bed features a lockable storage compartment, cargo management rails, and a sprayed-on bed liner. A new grille and hood vents aid the breathing of a 550-hp, 6.2-liter supercharged crate engine that comes courtesy of GM Performance Parts. Carbon-fiber accents also highlight the truck’s dashboard, and black leather and suede seats get contrast stitching.

Oh, look, GM innovation at its finest.

Plus, it'll never see production.

If by some far and away chance it does see production- it won't be near the Raptor's price. Carbon Fiber and a supercharged 6.2 won't come cheap, especially when they start adding in GM's frivolous options and they realize they have to engineer it to wear enough different badging to sell it as a Chevy, a GMC, and enough bodykit and chromized plastic to make it a Buick or Cadillac should some higher up get drunk and have an idea.

Not really impressed. The Raptor is more badass, it just needs that new motor.

Don't worry, GM doesn't have the ballsack to take on the Raptor's awesomeness no matter if Lutz is in charge or not.

As much as i would love to see a GM Raptor. This is not it. This is just a 1500 with a bunch of GM performance parts on it. The raptor was specifically developed for off road use.

Wow, that is just pointless and fugly. Hey GM, don't bother trying to compete with the SVT Raptor because you already lost.

EPIC FAIL!
