Default Chevy VOLT Confirmed for RHD

Quote:
Holden has previewed General Motors’ plug-in hybrid electric car before it goes on sale locally in 2012, reports JOSHUA DOWLING.

Holden took the Sydney motor show by surprise this morning when it unveiled the Chevrolet Volt electric car and confirmed it would be in Australian show rooms by 2012.
Pricing is yet to be confirmed but the Volt, which is similar in size to a Holden Astra sedan, is expected to cost more than $30,000 locally.

Nope, because the greenies managed to make everyone have an irrational fear of it.

Though there are a few parts where it would be a water powered electric car.

I'd expect it will be much higher than that, I'll tip $45,000 at the lowest.

I wish we had nuclear here. Even a lot of "greenies" want it as while of course it's a polluter, you can contain the pollution (if done right). No going into the air, killing fish, etc.

Of course we don't. We have the largest share of the world's uranium reserves - about a quarter of that on the entire planet, but...

I would be interested how 'clean' this car actually is - Victoria is powered almost entirely off brown coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel there is. Static generators like power plants are more efficient than internal combustion engines, but still...

The electricity grid in Victoria is crap enough: Remember the blackouts during the summer months when many people have their aircon on? I almost had a blackout every fortnight in my area.

Now, imagine all those Plug-in hybrids plugged in at night charging. Hmm.....I'm not looking forward to plug-ins until they can strengthen the 50's tech power grid.

It won't be Off-peak anymore when everyone's got their cars plugged in.
