Default Chrysler and Chery (Chinese)???

Chrysler to add Chinese car to American market.

Quote:
The carmaker will begin selling Chery Automobile Co.'s A1 hatchback in the first quarter of 2008, Chery President Yin Tongyao told reporters in Beijing. The 1.3-liter A1 costs from 53,800 yuan ($7,100) in China. Chrysler's least expensive U.S. model is the $13,850 Dodge Caliber, according to Edmunds.com. Yin didn't say how much the A1 would cost in the U.S.

They will change the skin. Might just do the hornet concept for the outside, forget the suicide doors and fancy insides though. Smart idea getting into the B segment vehicle.

Seeing as that car (Chery QQ) is a blatant ripoff of the Daewoo Matiz that only the Chinese domestic market can get away with, it won't be that car. (Though come to think of it, it DOES look like Pikachu.)

And this is as some of us expected. Though I just figured Chrysler would have moved all production to China rather than just re-badge or re-body a Chinese car.

I wonder if they will release it as the Dodge Dart, and get Mopar man in here telling us how great of a driver it's 3 cylinder 500cc diesel automatic variant is.

Momentum57 That ain't a bad idea really. Put a decently styled body on a shit car... sounds exactly like a Chrysler product.

edit: Anyone else notice the date of the press release? American Independence day they announce selling a car made in a communist country.

You know when I said watch out as it could be Chrysler = Rover. ... What car company imported the City Rover from India (the clue is in the name) in desperation.
So a Chery. ...
