Autoblog: Chrysler to outfit Fiat 500-approved dealers with specific showroom "salons"

In order to properly court those new wallets buyers, Chrysler plans to open "specific interior showroom branded salons" in select dealerships, mostly in metropolitan areas. A dedicated set of salespeople will be assigned to sell the Fiat 500 in the States... ya know, since they otherwise wouldn't know how to sell the important car to American consumers.

There will also be a full line of accessories made available to customize the new car, which we would expect will include unique color and stripe packages both inside and out along with a slew of optional wheel designs. Whatever, make ours an Abarth and we're good. Expect all of this to take place before the end of 2010 as the Fiat 500 finally starts to show up in those selected dealerships.

With all this special attention being given to the 500 on the part of Chrysler I wonder how ridiculously much they are going to mark it up.

Yes, let's give the 500 only to "select" dealerships and have them sold only by "dedicated" sales people. Because we wouldn't want to run the risk of selling too many cars now, do we?

It's dealership control. This is a good thing. They have too many dealers many of whom are crap and ruin the customer experience. This way dealers will have to shape up or only sell Sebrings.

Ok, good point. It's better to have a smaller quantity of high quality dealers than a larger quantity of shit dealers. I just hope the little bastard and it's brethren become popular and give other Chrysler dealers the motivation to shape up or ship out.

Eww that giant grille ruined it. And I've always thought the new Lancia Delta looks ugly. Can't compare to the old Delta. I loved driving that in Forza 2

Why do I have a feeling that those "dedicated" salesman will all be homo- or metro-sexual, in an attempt ot present the car as "hip" and "funky" and "cutesy".

Needless to say, that is going to backfire and will create the wrong image for the car.

(Hopefully, I will turn out to be wrong)
