Damn I love that Jeep pickup. Even if they don't put it into production, I might just have to make a custom job out of it... eventually. Nice vid. Respect for the H3, it's pretty decent.

It's unfortunate that as great as the H3T may be, I'm afraid it will simply be another trendy accessory to be driven around town.

I can see the conversation now....

Me: Sweet! You got one of those new H3T's, do you ever 'wheel it?

Random poser: Umm... what does 'wheel mean?

The automaker was hounded anew by aficionados following the rollout of the Gladiator pickup concept (there was a previous Gladiator that ran from 1963 to 1970) at the 2005 Detroit auto show, but executives said last summer the Jeep brand will not be returning to the compact-pickup segment any time soon. After crunching the numbers, it was deemed to be an unprofitable proposition—and that was before the financial bottom fell out at Chrysler.

And in light of the recent and dramatic product reorganizing at Chrysler, this is to be expected. They are more likely to stick with what works instead of trying to raise the bet on an unknown hand.

I think the real question for the H3T is, will it have a tailgate you can use like a truck, or will it come with a Tundra tailgate?

Bullshit, bullshit, and yea, bullshit. Perhaps I am judging it a little harshly, we'll see how it fares. It does make me think about a few interesting things though. If the H3's get the 5.3L V8, maybe they'll get the new 4.5L V8 diesel. Maybe someone at GM will wake up and put the 5.3L (or 4.5L) in the Colorado. Finally, if it is a sales success maybe Chrysler will be encouraged to build that Jeep pickup, either the Gladiator or that awesome Egyptian sourced one. I'd take either over the H3T.

The Colorado is getting the 5.3l. And what is with the whole "bullshit" thing? It has been proven that the H3 has a substancial offroad capability. And being a truck, it can be versatile. I guess the "attitude" would be more of a personal opinion but....

Glad to hear the Colorado is getting the 5.3, that makes my day images/smilies/biggrin.gif. As for the H3T, I just really don't like the whole Hummer line-up. So I'm sorry if I'm overly critical. I suppose the H3Ts got more merit than the rest of them though. Are they already building V8 Colorados?

Jeep Gladiator
I saw this in person at NAIAS 2005, to this day I still want one, really badly. Maybe with Chrysler being redone by Cerberus and Jeep getting made back into an off-road brand, we will actually get to see a Jeep truck again. Hopefully something a lot like the Gladiator.

I still like this H3T, and it is great that they are finally giving it and the Colorado a V8. That I5 is really a joke, "The power of a V6 with the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder", more like the fuel consumption of a V6 with the power of a 4 banger. Hummers were cool, even the H2, until rappers and other retards starting buying them. It was bad enough when the local soccer mom had a Suburban, but now they have to have a Hummer to run over curbs.

Although, another concept from 2005 from Jeep was way sweeter then any of this, the Hurricane. I was drooling over it seeing it then, and the pics still make me drool.

They have improved the I5 a bit. Bumped up the displacement to 3.7l and raised the power to 242 hp (180 kW) @ 5600 RPM and 242 ft·lbf (327 N·m) @ 2800 RPM. I'm guessing they will do something with it in the upcoming redesign.

I don't really understand the reasoning behind using an I-5 in the H3 and Colorado. The I-5 in our Volvo is a fantastic engine, the best engine in a car I've driven. And apparently it works well in the Focus ST and Mondeo. But the I-5 in an H3 is such a bad combination. It is so gutless its ridiculous, my friend's dad had an H3 and only managed a combined mpg of 15.

Apparently the Jeep Hurricane has TWO 5.7L Hemi V8 engines, one to power the front wheels, another to power the rear. That's some serious power right there... images/smilies/lol.gif
