There is no replacement for displacement. - Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it. - Motor Trend on the 2006 Dodge Viper Coupe, November 2005 | |

Car: Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ya, um, that lame wing is kinda needed on a car like this, for downforce, to get the 675 horsepower to the road. Everyday cars do not need wings because they never really spoil unfavorable air movement. Ricers wanted their cars to look like race cars so they took spoilers. This car is not about looks this is the real deal i could car less the lights or the curves as long as the engine is huge. |

Car: 2001 Mercury Cougar V6 Rep Power: 67 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, because the spoiler does so much from a standing start...and when you get up high enough for it to matter, I'd rather stay in a higher gear, and not have that huge wing on the back which HAS to limit the top speed by about 100mph... |

Car: Pimpmobile Rep Power: 73 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The wing is primarily to keep the back end settled at speed. Remember what happened to the CCX on the Top Gear track without the wing? Now, tell me why you don't need downforce. |

Car: 2001 Mercury Cougar V6 Rep Power: 67 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Because if I had a car this expensive, I'm not brave/skilled enough to drive it at the limit to the point where I'm at the car's limits of adhesion at 180mph. I'd go fast in a straight line, but you're not going to see me being THAT ballsy on the country roads! :-p BTW: Didn't that tiny wing on the CCX lower the top speed by, like, 7 mph? It was at least 3...so this wing has GOT to be like trying to run in the wind with a parachute strapped to your back. |
