The front end looks...haughty.
![]() It will never happen, but this cars needs something like the 2ZZ-GE engine in it again. |

The new Vibe has the snout from a wild boar, sort of big flared nostrils. From my perspective, the design of it doesn't make a great deal of sense, it tries to be curvy and angular at the same time, which it fails to do. It looks ghastly.

I've always liked the Vibe and unlike with most restyles of cars I like I still find this one attractive. Now if only Pontiac would release a hot version. I'd be all over that!

The body (not so much the nose) reminds me of something like the Hyundai Tucson for some reason... Eh...I'd rather have a Mazda 3, or an Audi A3. My question, for so many cars these days...is: "Why?" What, besides your own brand of styling, does your car offer than the others don't already do, that would necessitate your take on this class of car? Is it cheaper than the rest? More powerful? Is it terrific to drive? If every question can be answered with a different car already on the market, then why are you here? Sometimes you see a vehicle and ask "Really? Really? As an international automotive manufacturer, you actually decided that the world needs this car? This seems like one of those cars. The interior needs some really kick-ass unique styling, MUCH more interesting wheels, and headlights that don't look like they were taken from the Malibu Maxx.

They DID, the Vibe GT had the 6-speed and engine plucked from a Celica GT-S, which is the same thing that's in the Lotus Elise! Sadly, they killed it off in '06

And it was a damn fun little car. I wonder if the new vibe will continue to use Toyota's engines or pick up an ecotec.

99.99% sure it will use Toyota engines. They are built in the same factory I believe.

Screw the HHR SS and put the 260 hp Redline/GXP engine in this and let it rip.

LOL, that's because it basically is. All the Vibe has ever been is a Toyota Matrix with different bodywork. And the Matrix is just a Corolla hatchback really. So, pretty much a Corolla with a bodykit, more or less.

You learn something everyday. I always figured they just threw on the GT badge and maybe some extra trim as a marketing ploy to make it look more sporty.

Wow, you know if they brought back the 2ZZGE and the 6 speed, or even better, a turbo Ecotec drivetrain coupled with the AWD I would actually consider owning one. Regardless, not only didn't Pontiac botch the restyle, they made it look better. Real evidence of a turnaround at GM?

i could of sworn the previous generation Vibe GT had a Toyota VVT-i V6. right now, the Vibe DOES come with the 2ZZ though. but it only has 126hp and not the 190hp that came in the Celica GT-S.

I didn't read the whole thing, but I really expected the 1.8 to get more than 26mpg city.
Perhaps I'm expecting too much.
