Burnouts like that are more of a 'show off' move.

Kind of a 'My car has >this< much power to do this to the wheels' kinda thing.

That being said, it was a magazine car so it wasn't their tires to begin with. images/smilies/yes.gif

I can't believe some of you call yourselves gearheads and you hate the smell of burning rubber... images/smilies/sad.gif

Smells like...victory

Heh, I don't really care for standing burnouts either. I've personally seen people do standing burnouts in their late 1980's Buick Centurys, granted it was just the one front tire spinning. Pretty much any RWD car with an LSD can do a burnout like that. More power just makes it easier, I'm guessing.

But I still loved that video, just for the audio. I couldn't hear much whine from the supercharger though. It may have been drowned out by the screeching tires, but it sounded just a tad throatier then a Z06.

Those blown Cobras make perhaps my favorite engine noise of all time, but the ZR1 sounds fantastic as well.

I bet its physically smaller than your 5.5. And the point is mute because you can fit a sbc in ANYTHING.

I love blown cobras. If I had to pick just one car to drive for the rest of my life, that might just be it (Although it would need some serious suspension work to go with the power)
The ZR-1 is nice, though.

Seriuosly: that was great, and I agree that the sound is epic.
On a serious note, GT-R's of old (except the 33) one could pull a fuse to disable sending power to the front wheels.

Makes sense, AFAIK they ran RWD until the rears start sliding.

The ZR-1 is nice, though.
The 99-04 Cobra's are fairly competent for stock power, with their semi-sophisticated-but-in-the-end-compromised-independent-rear-suspension (yeah thats a word images/smilies/smile.gif ) I've driven one that was making around 460hp at the wheels. Shockingly, savagely, literally painfully fast.

To throw more fuel on the fire...

Here's me doing a burnout (note that the rear wheels are different than the fronts images/smilies/wink.gif )

Sound quality sucks as it is about 2 years old...

Sweet.

I was thinking though, being that the Z-R1 is so much more expensive than the normal C6, it would be nice if it looked a little more unique in order to reflect that. Upon a glance, the average Joe on the street is not going to know that your 'Vette is any different than his neighbor's stock C6.
