I'm not sure I like it more than the Evo, but I do like it more than the scooby equivalent. Now if only Mazda would AWD the 3 with their DISI turbo engine.

Or better yet if Ford would make a proper AWD Focus RS.

I can't believe they don't sell this in Japan.
Damn. Seems like a great tuning base to me (so long as you don't mind the SST box) with the only engine difference being the turbo. |

This I like a lot - the Evo is too hardcore for a lot of people, so this seems to give a you a nice performance package in the middle somewhere.
I wonder how long it will be before someone tunes and tweaks it to Evo levels... for less cost...

Only problem with tuning this engine for more power is going to be the transmission. Getrag rate the gearbox at 470Nm. EVO X is already 422Nm, so an exhaust and tune will be over 470 straight away. So just "adding a bigger turbo" likely won't work. Then there's the hassle of injectors, valve springs, etc, etc.
Sweet car tho, might be worth a look for the missus / family car. |

Yep, I'd rather pay less and get a proper manual gearbox.
Speaking of which, why don't the shove a six-speeder into the Evo? |

Evo "lite" edition? Work harder and buy the full-fat model, if that's the sort of car you want.

I find this gen. hideous! It looks fat and slow in every picture I have ever seen of it and it looks like it has a lot of body roll (at least that is how I see it). I don't care how fast it actually is, I would never own one.

^ The "problem" with cars of this type is, even though they have clever technology to make them faster, the chassis and suspension are from a normal car. You do get quite a lot of pitch and body roll, the electronics help to cancel out those bad affects.

I'm assuming you feel the same way about the WRX?

Here we go again...I'm pretty sure they tuned the suspension to make it edgier and quicker than the normal Lancer.

Just don't expect the transmission to last as long as it normally would, and keep the standing starts to a minimum and it might hold up
