At first glance this is the perfect April Fools story:

Did he get bored of his original SkyCar? This really doesn't make much sense, unless there's some advantage to using a heavy chassis that is further weighed down by legislated gear that doesn't matter for an experimental flying car.

Well, it still took 2 posts until someone earned it. Also I can get rid of all those hard girlscout cookies this way.

Anyway, where are they going to fit those 8 thrusters. The skycar has only 4 and they are huge.
Personally it looks more like a PR gag than anything they would seriously pursue.

Jibes aside, I think these guys are just trying to move past the prototype stage; the SkyCar probably had little future outside the occasional documentary cameo.
