![]() ![]() Alfa Romeo is revealing the production version of its 8C Competizione Spider, as first seen at the Pebble Beach concours d'elegance in 2005. The Spider will share the 8C coupe's 4.7-litre V8 (450bhp) and six-speed sequential-shift gearbox. It's said to be good for 177mph and 0-60mph in less than four seconds. The Spider gets a two-layer fabric roof, electrically controlled via a button in the dashboard. Its cabin is trimmed in high-class leather and its seats have carbonfibre frames to save weight: the whole thing weighs just 1500kg thanks to carbonfibre components. Specification includes carbon-ceramic Brembo brake discs, 20-inch wheels with 245/35 tyres up front and 285/35s to the rear, and sports-specific traction and stability control. Production of just 500 is planned and all will be hand-built at the Maserati factory in Modena. Prices will start from around £140,000. | |

| A gorgeous looking thing, although 140,000 pounds is F430 money with a shitload of options. My oh my I love the way it looks though. | |

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | Yeah, but I would rather have this than a Ferrari. I see Ferraris all over the place in Marin County, but I would be the only one with an Alfa like this.

It kind of frustrates me that I can't understand why other people like it. Normally I can, even if I don't agree. Sometimes I think (hope) it's a huge joke at my expense, that everyone's in on.

| is awesome! | I am quite taken with the 8C. Not best in decades, but smitten. I really like this, but the craptastic pictures don't help.

| Gulf Livery Rules | What? No. Just No. My car looks bland, the 8C looks ugly. Big difference. There are 2 directions Alfa could have gone with their design. The brera/159 one or this. Why, oh, why they chose the fail option is beyond me. |

But when viewed as a whole it just looks fantastic. They even made that little fender vent look good with the way they tucked it under the body line. The lines and proportions of it are evocative of the classic sports cars of the '60s, and there's nothing wrong with that. I do prefer the coupe though . |
