Default Geneva 2008: Chevrolet Aveo

Sales of the five-door Aveo start in the UK this month, and this three-door will follow in June.

The Aveo replaces the Kalos supermini; it is built by GM Daewoo in South Korea and it is already on sale in saloon from elsewhere in the world.

Engines for the range are 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrol units (84bhp and 101bhp respectively), though a diesel may follow at a later date. There are three trim levels, S, LS and LT, and prices for the five-door will start at around £7,500.

Not that bad. A great improvement on the last Aveo.

I disagree. images/smilies/wub.gif I never cared for the Aveo until I saw one at the local auto show. That little car really surprised me and it was way more comfortable to sit in than cars costing twice as much. I've heard nothing but good things from people who have driven them. The new one looks even better than what it's replacing. I would not be ashamed to have one. Does anyone know if the three door hatch is coming to the US?

I've been in the Matiz quite a lot and that's actually a very likeable city car.

Seems a lot better than the Daewoo stuff we're getting in Europe!

This will soon make looking out on the street more unbearable than before. There are plenty of these around already, driven by idiots who don't give a sh** about the car's rubbish EuroNCAP safety rating.

Maybe this one will be better, but... who knows? I don't really trust ex-Daewoo cars.
(OK, perhaps except for the Lacetti WTCC)

^ Surprise? It comes from an American company. images/smilies/tongue.gif

I'm not exactly won over by this car, it looks like a funny front end on an otherwise boring city car. Engines seem pretty good for a car of this type.

^ Correct. They designed it in the US, to sell there. More just happen to sell in Europe.

It has the front of a Skoda Roomster.
Actually they only changed the ugly-ass windows of the Roomster.

For Europeans: this exterior re-design is a massive improvement then what it used to look like.
