I wonder if this will also bring Saturn back from the dead. Being obstinate with Penske now makes more sense, the same stall tactics and well poisoning.

I think some of the cars from Saturn's lineup will return as far as rebadging GM Europe products is concerned. The Buick Regal/LaCrosse, being a Vauxhall/Opel Insignia, is the first example from this. The new Corsa, from all i've heard, is a brilliant car, too - GM would be mad not to import it to pitch it against the Euro-spec Fiesta.
I don't think they'll revive the Saturn brand, though.

It would make more sense to bring over the European cars as Chevys. But then GM never was one for making logical decisions.

Post-restructure GM is going back to pre-restructure GM. Hell, they already got the money and they know that Obama won't let them die, so why not throw money around pointlessly like they've been doing for almost a century?

If we all would have voted SPD, this would have never happened.

it doesnt matter if we voted SPD or CDU, both ruined us in the past, I voed DieLinke, even if I'm not sure if they would have done it any different.

So if you wanna blame someone, blame our idiotic government and our stupid politicians. They are too dumb and naive to deal with an American corporation. The bitch of it is: GM currently got the upper hand but there are no real restructuring efforts within what's left of the former world's biggest car maker. There is half-heartedness at best. If it goes on like this (and I assume it will), we will see the next insolvency of General Motors in 2011 at latest. Quote:
And what should GM sue them for? Handing over German tax payer money to an 100 % American-owned corporation? Forget it. That won't happen. Why not declaring war, while they're at it? If there is one tiny bit of reason left within the German goverment, they will do nothing. Nothing at all. An end in terror is better, than terror without ending. They cannot justify letting companies like Quelle go bust, while saving Opel. Last edited by MacGuffin; November 4th, 2009 at 5:27 PM. |

GM should never have been bailed out in the first place! Billions of dollars down the drain and the end result was the same - GM went belly up. If they cant keep their company running then they need to go out of business, plain and simple. That's what the capitalist system is based on.

The signs indicate, that even now the GM management has not realized the seriousness of the situation. They live in a never-never land. It reminds be lot of those stock broker companies in 1929, which refused to accept their failure and tried to keep going with complete arrogance and ignorance instead.

And you have a right to.
I'm loling with you ![]() Don't get me wrong, though: I feel sorry for the Opel/Vauxhall workers. They are nervous wrecks by now. And there is no end in sight for their suffering from uncertainty. And in contrast to their American colleagues, they really do a good job and work their fingers to the bones in order to save their company. Last edited by MacGuffin; November 4th, 2009 at 5:39 PM. |

Made no sense to give away the Volt / Ampera platform and now more important small car platforms, that GM needs badly.
Its good the EU shot do the sweetheart deal Germany was trying to with Magna. Was hard to believe they would get away with it.

Why should anyone want -rep Spectre for his post in this thread? He's right, GM fucked the European governments, especially Germany, pretty good. Not that I'm surprised.

Now that's insane.
- Germany piles in cash to protect German workforce. - British workforce left to burn by UK. - Plan backfires, no guarantees for German workers, UK jobs looking secure. - German workers decide to improve their job security by striking! |
