Default Hollywood has finally gone too far. Bullitt to recieve a remake.

The ‘Bullitt’ movie made famous by it’s wild chase scene with legendary Hollywood actor Steve McQueen driving a highland green 1968 390 GT Fastback Mustang is being remade with Brad Pitt starring as Lt. Frank Bullitt.'
Oh fuck no, as much as I hate the retro-crap whatever these days the automotive sector is pushing out, this also takes the damn cake.

LOL dude... you missed posting the best part of the whole story:

http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/7141/bullittbradpittct4.jpg

As for the actual story... Pitt's a decent actor, and an equivalent modern mustang might be arguably as bad ass as the original. But regardless, if all the past retro remakes hold true, this movie with suck.

Oh, you know that everyone in SF is going to hate this. You can't even do the same chase because the entire route has been developed since they filmed the original.

This is just going to be another masturbatory exercise for Ford's PR department along with the remake of Omega Man, I Am Legend in which Will Smith is seen driving through a post-apocalyptic New York in a brand new Mustang GT.

EDIT: Didn't Car and Driver do a review of the new Mustang v the Charger by driving the famous chase route in SF?

I think it was a GT500.

And I don't like the idea of this movie either. Unless Ford comes out with and sells a badass Bullitt edition Mustang with some serious power under the hood.

Sorry, Brad Pitt just doesn't have the "ultimate tough-guy coolness" factor of Steve McQueen. I'm not going to suggest someone else does (I wouldn't know where to begin), but Pitt ain't it.

Brad Pitt, I'm sorry just doesn't do it.

What next Justin Timberlake to drive the charger?

Damn, what a coincidence.

Just yesterday, a friend asked me "Have you seen the movie BULLIT" (that's the way he pronounced it). Anyway, it turned out what he meant was some movie starring Tupac Shakur,
and I thought "damn, they remade Bullit, it must suck, especially with freaking Tupac".

Turns out I was wrong, but not for long.

I'd rather see Daniel Craig as Bullitt than Brad Shit.

Walking advertisement for makeup, hair products and teeth whitening. That is the modern standard in Hollywood for "macho" men. images/smilies/tongue.gif

It's not like they can make it any more terrible than the original film was.

I see that "I am legend" is being adapted for the screen by Akiva Goldsman,
the same person who brought us:

2. The Da Vinci Code (2006) (screenplay)
3. Cinderella Man (2005) (screenplay)
4. I, Robot (2004) (screenplay)
5. A Beautiful Mind (2001) (written by)

6. Practical Magic (1998) (screenplay)
7. Lost in Space (1998) (written by)
... aka LS (USA: promotional abbreviation)
8. Batman & Robin (1997) (written by)
9. A Time to Kill (1996) (screenplay)
10. Batman Forever (1995) (screenplay)
11. Silent Fall (1994) (written by)
12. The Client (1994) (screenplay)

Yes, but I Am Legend is suppose to be closer to the book of the same title, where as Omega Man was just 'majorly influenced' by it. Sorry, did a bit of research myself...

As for the Bullit remake...I really don't know what to say. It could be alright, or it could turn into the Gone In 60 Seconds remake. I'm hoping that some studio disaster/freak accident prevents us from finding out.

And yes, Car & Driver did do that review, I remember reading about it (I forget which fared better though...)

Motor Trend did the chase in SF, not Car and Driver.

Yeah but the only good thing about the Original Bullit was the chase scene. The rest of the movie was kind of stupid.

I pray to god this doesn't happen. I can see it being just as bad as the Gone In 60 Seconds remake or even worse. And I don't think a chase with a modern Mustang and Charger would be exciting.

Other than the stupid jump on the bridge I thought Gone in 60 Seconds with Cage was better than the original one of them just driving around in circles for 45 minutes in empty dirt lots in Long Beach.

Never underestimate a bad director and a pretty boy actor, they can do a lot of damage. Case in point Batman Forever and the previously mentioned Batman & Robin.

And with the fact that the only thing worth watching in the entire movie is the car chase, ti's not a hard one to fuck up.
