I'd rather the grille have a Hyundai badge, rather than that hideous grille. At least this car had the decency to borrow some good design cues from other manufactures.

It looks gorgeous. There's something Ford Mondeo/Lexus/Mercedes about it, which is a good thing. And to think it'll probably come with a 5-year unlimited kilometers warranty like other Hyundai's is amazing.

Wait, so even the production version will have no bodging at the front? It makes it look so odd.

I won't make fun of anyone who'd buy one but It's not exciting enough that idn't sell it and buy perhaps an old SL or an 8 series if i'd won it in a contest or something.

It is not terribly exciting but I do like it.

Even better to reinforce the "generic luxury car" sentiment.

360-something horsepower and for $30,000 is pretty damn good. I wouldn't call it the most technically advanced, original or handsome car, but at that price point, its a pretty good deal.

^ But he owns an Infiniti and as I pointed out before the back of this car is straight outta Infiniti's books.

This car is debadged because people are ashamed of driving a Hyundai. Same deal with the Tibby, they changed the badge to something else... I think it was

Very Generic, the interior doesn't look too bad though.

Completely different market, mind you. We get pushed over and raped when it comes to new car prices, especially for European cars. Pared with the weak US dollar, and it'd almost make sense to move over to the US with a bit of our money.

OP started this thread but is entirely missing the point of this car:
the car itself is nothing remarkable compared to its rivals which are $20-40K more expensive.... but it marks a big turning point for korean cars in the world market, just like when japanese cars really started getting respect in the early 80s. i can guarantee that ppl who disagree with me are too young to actually know i'm right. |

^ True that and i suspect that in 10 years time korean cars will be viewed as highly as japanese cars are today.
Expect the next generation of shit-boxes from countries like china and india. |

Back on topic...
This Hyundai looks genuinely good looking. Even if it takes its cues from Lexus and Merc. Take the badge away and people who know little/nothing about cars wouldn't guess its a Hyundai... Some people in this thread have said that IF they were in the market for this type of car, they'd consider this. I'll confess I'm still a bit of a sucker for badge appeal even if I'm not necessarily getting a better deal. I sense it'll take a long time before I could even consider a Hyundai. Thats my honest opinion. |
