Quote:
The 2008 SEMA Show ended last week, but for some inexplicable reason, Toyota forget to mention this little diddy that was supposedly tucked away in a corner of the Las Vegas Convention Center. It is exactly what it's name implies: a Scion xB that's been transformed into a taco truck of all things. Normally SEMA project cars are tuned for superfluous high performance and look like rejects from the Paul Walker Sport Compact Hall of Fame, but the xB Taco Truck can at least do something, i.e. serve that staple of the Mexican diet to legions of hungry lunch goers. From what we can tell, the vehicle uses the xB's platform, keeps the front end and dash and ditches the rest to make room for a stainless steel mobile kitchen. The truck was reportedly built from scratch by Louie Contreras with hand-painted graphics applied by Kenton Parker. Good job guys, it's... um... interesting, and probably the most fuel-efficient taco truck ever made. While it may be good on fuel, the Scion xB Taco Truck will likely be responsible for an entirely different kind of gas if it ever gets pressed into service.

Fucking sexy!!!! I want this. Build it Toyota.images/smilies/wink.gif

Never said I thought low of them, the Japanese have it down right. images/smilies/biggrin.gif Still, I'm gonna build a van so amateur welders can get a decent midnight snack and all their welding supplies at the same time. Makes sense, after all.

I'm most interested in your business proposal and wish to invest - to where shall I address the cheque?

i am gonna guess that the Paint section is a nod to the current popularity of Graffiti art from the pics it looks like they are selling spray cans, paint markers and mixes for refillable cans as well..

That is one of the most ugly vehicles I've ever seen, every Sprinter with an open sliding door makes more sense.

Ever heard the term "roach coach"? Some of them are bad. Like worse than Burger-King-at-3am bad. There's a taco truck that parks outside my nearest pick-n-pull though ... my god is it delicious.

Yeah, it's a great fit for the Scion design philosophy images/smilies/tongue.gif.

You know, a cheap, fuel-efficient minivan thing like this might actually sell to many small business. Building it using an existing platform would help keep costs low.

I prefer this

If Scion converted an XB into a giant toaster I would be impressed.

This little guy, looks aside, has been somewhat popular around here. I think an xB panel would probably do about as well. It's a pretty interesting niche market that not to many manufacturers here tailor anything to.

The last redesign swapped out the 1.5L engine for a 2.4L one, so I'd say yeah.
