Projected release date: 2009.
http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayS...=2&docid=27934 Personally, I think it will never be released. 10 bucks says GM is doing this to draw attention to the company. 10 bucks also says that this Camaro will be Chevrolets Banshee; endlessly shown as a prototype, but never released. And I think the front end is hideous. I know some have a blind love for Camaros and the supposed upcoming vehicle, but really...look at it! It's homely! |

The front isn't great, but the sides look brilliant. Perfect combination of retro and futurism.
Alas, GM says that the production version will...oh wait, what's that Rick Wagoner? "closely resemble the concept car". In other words, they'll it up spectacularly, then slap a Pontiac Firebird badge on it and go off to sell Suzukis passed off as Buicks to the Chinese.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going to steal Bob Lutz's fighter jet then strafe the RenCen with heat-seeking missiles.

the Camaro will have to look like the concept if they plan on selling any. its been getting so many good responses from the general public that it'd be death if it looked any different.

I love Camaros, always have, BUT I really dislike this new one. I'll wait for the GTO or the next gen CTS-V Coupe.

Camaros nowadays are for the ones (teens) who cant afford a Corvette, or they like the name but cant shell out however mny thousands it is for an old one. Nice that theyre turning it back to a muscle(ish) car but im starting to get sick of this 'retro' styling. Taking certain style cues is fine but heyre just milking the whole old style thing for the money. Reminds me of this surge of movies based on classic comic book heroes. Tho that said, spiderman 1 was awesome

I'm happy as hell. As long as the V8 and rear wheel drive make it I will be happy.

The Mustang is selling well for it's looks, not it's perfomance or interior.

Name sells here, like in the meat industry, beef(thats sold to consumers) gets a select, choice, or prime grade. select being the grade just above the meat thats sold to canning companies like chef boyardee fer canned ravioli or soup, hideous quality meat. But since no1 knows the difference they can say new SELECT meat and people think its good. Technically theres no such thing as a "prime rib" on a cow. what it means is ribs made from prime meat. but if you look on the menue they ADVERTISE thats it made from choice meat. But the name sells.

Yeah, spoiled by a 1976 Volvo, a 98 Camry, a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and an 04 Civic. I've run the range on interior quality and the Mustang is crap. In order of quality of build I rate my cars as follows:
Civic Camry 76 Volvo 01 Jeep. That's right, I think the Jeep from 2001 had a crappier interior than a Volvo from 1976. Sorry, but you can't blame cultural differences this time, I'm and American living in the same part of the country as you. As a general rule American cars are the suck at ergonomics and fit & finish inside. I drove GM vehicles for NBC and my local Police dept, I know what I'm talking about.

Has there been any word on Z28, SS, or RS versions? Please say it's going to be available with t-tops. How about the Firebird/Trans Am? It seems inevitable these will return as well. Any idea what they will look like?

Oh dear God, not this Mustang debate (the ugly stepsister of the Corvette debate) again. Thanks a lot guys, I think I hate American sports cars now.

There is no reason that they can't build a car that goes around corners. It's front engine and rear wheel drive, which is fine because we are sticking with the Camaro name. If they mount the engine right, put on a propper differential and tune the suspension correctly they can make a car that will take the corners - the problem is that drivers tend to use too much of that power and kick the tail out too far. It would be a more raw car, but it should still be designed to do it. I think the problem is that they will just be looking at quarter mile times and neglect the rest. We will see.
