The E46 M3's weakest point, in my opinion, was the motor. People over at Renntech, Schnitzer, Hamann, Dinan, etc all said that motor was operating so near the very edge of its limits, you couldn't overly tweak it. That being said, any motor could be chopped and fortified, but at what cost? I hope that the new M3's V8 will be much more aftermarket tuning friendly like the E36 M3.

And that's a weakness?? That just confirms the excellence and thoroughness of the work done by the M Division in extracting the very most out of the motor (and what a glorious motor it is).

M3s V8 probably won't any more tune-able as the E46 M3, it being posibly a high revving, high compression engine like the V10.

Thats not a weakness. All the top exotic models dont like people tampering with theyre cars, and the E36 M3 engine is near enough the same to the E46

Why would you wanna tune a M car? :p Buy a Supra or something if you wanna tune your car, M cars should be left the way they are..

Couldn´t agree more.
The only thing left to do is tweak the suspension and/or change the rims to others you like (not necessarily bigger, because I believe BMW engineers know what they were doing)
