This was on the cover of AutoBild recently, certainly looks exciting. A better
looking more race-inspired SLR? Yes please thankyou.

I don't have any information about it yet, so...

Its just a computer generated image so don't take it too seriously. That image was originally of an of an SL.

But AutoBild is probably trying to detail how by 2010, Mercedes should have another supercar model to join the SLR as Mercedes is the choice giving company these days. Also, the SLR is going to be updated by 2008 with more powerfull engine, better brakes and "increased weight-savings".

I don't have any details on where the new supercar model will slot in at the top, whether its above or below the SLR but I rekon it'll go higher.

looks nothing like the original and i can guarentee that MB will fuck it up and make it weigh as much as all of germany

I wanna see something like an SLR-R - totally stripped out interior. That would be a fucking bullet and make it handle better. Even with all the leather and stuff it has in it now, it can match the Carrera GT in many areas so just think what it could do with a stripped out interior!

their idea of a compact sports car is the C55 AMG, its fast and handles alright, but its trying to compete with the M3 and it doesnt even offer a manual. and without McLaren stepping in, the SLR would just be a different looking SL65 which costs twice as much. McLaren were planning on having the SLR weigh several hundred pounds less than the whopping 3800 lbs that it weighs now.

The funny thing is that SL stands for "Sport Leicht", but nowadays there is not much Sport and really nothing leicht(=light) in their SL-named cars.

But i think Mercedes will bring it back later, looking at rising gas prices and taking into consideration that the new AMG Engines is n/a and gets all its power from the revs. They seem to try becoming sportier again.

Funny, of all the people on this forum, you'd expect me to love that Merc more than you guys, but I don't. I don't think its ugly like IVIaster, but I'm not that into it as a car. It looks very cool though.

This is nearly a great looking car, I had a 350 gull wing model as a kid and this has nearly captured the emotion of that car, not quite there but maybe a better picture would improve things?
