Default Motor Show: Yamaha Gen-RYU

http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/motorshows/tokyo2005/concepts-weird-wonderful/03-large/yamaha-genryu-s.jpg

Yamaha's hybrid motorcycle is quite unlike any form of two-wheeler seen to date. Called the Gen-RYU, it uses the high-output lightweight compact YZF-R6 600cc engine and an electric motor to deliver the type of performance normally associated with a 1,000cc bike.

The Gen-RYU is designed as a futuristic cruiser, with large diameter wheels and long wheelbase, combining the handling of a motorcycle and the comfort and carrying capacity of a scooter.

A noise-cancelling system has been designed to greatly reduce wind noise, which will help with the use of a short-wave tandem intercom system, voice navigation function, music player and hands-free phone function.

Other advanced technologies include headlights that turn to the inside of the corner and a rear view monitoring system using a CCD camera and LCD display.

Wow, a bike I wouldn't mind seeing passing me. Looks neat and futuristic.

Any idea how heavy this monstrosity would be?

Cruising is about all it would be good for, as going around any corners would require 10 minutes pre-planning by the rider due to it's huge wheelbase.

Right, so not much to do with the bike at all, rather the helmet.

As advanced as a Citroen DS then....

That would handle like a shopping cart.

It was probably designed by someone who's never been on a bike.
