Default MSN article makes Shelby SSC Ultimate Aero sound alright

I really have disliked this car since it came out. I think that even though the guy is named 'Shelby', he should have named his company something else, in respect to one of the greatest car guys of all time.

With all that out of the way, this car looks to be way more serious than I could have imagined, at least judging from this article. My first impressions of it were that it would be garbage, as it has FORD FOCUS headlights images/smilies/puke.gif.

So, I will stop typing now and give you guys the link:

its redundant to call it Shelby SSC since SSC means Shelby Super Cars.

also, MSNBC got a bunch of shit wrong. the Veyron had an official record run shortly after the unofficial run done at Nardo.

and to add, i can't begin to explain why i hate the average speed bullshit. it went 257mph no matter what.

and another thing.....

if Carroll Shelby had a problem with the naming of this company, i'm pretty sure he would of done something about it already. he's already got 2 lawsuits under his belt right now concerning a huge Shelby car club and Unique Performance.

I want this car to do well but I really think it needs to be more usable on normal roads for anyone to take it seriously. That's why the Ascaris and Nobles of the world don't get the respect they deserve: they really only work on a track. Unfortunately the Aero sounds like it's going the same way. No power steering? Are they mad? The reason the Veyron is the current king is because you could use it everyday if you wanted to. I don't think many people would be too keen on driving a car that gives them a workout just driving through town.

But it will be nothing short of astonishing if they're able to pull it off and make a car that's so much faster and so much cheaper than the Bugatti.

I liked it from the beginning and I like it even more now. I think the car is perfect like it is, it doesn't need power steering and TC. Of course some people prefer it but there will always be enough people willing to buy the car as it is so why make the compromise?

I don't have powersteering on my car, and I have never missed it. Its probably the thing i consider least imporatant on a car..

I always saw the car going in straight line. It would fail so badly at any tight track.
Bring it to the 'ring first or any other track with 1 corner minimum. epic fail! images/smilies/tongue.gif

Because he's clearly obtained a pre-production model, had it shipped to the village of Nurburg, paid the 30 Euro entrance fee, and road-tested it across all 74 curves. Oh wait, he's just being a 'tard on an Internet forum.

all i know is that thing was a beast to handle in the dry on PGR 4.... it was damn near uncontrollable ! images/smilies/tongue.gif

but then it is only a game. its ballistic on the straight bit though....

they say its aero work is good for 273mph..... but do they have tyres that wont just melt at that speed? i remember with the veyron something like the tyres lasting 15 minutes at 253mph but it was ok coz it'd be out of fuel in 12. im guessing this car has some bespoke jobbies?

oh heck! 1000bhp, RWD, no TC, no PAS..... not the car to be caught fucking about in then! props to the man for keeping the electronic nanny away from the car

It all depends if the chassis can take the grunt. Somehow, I'm having my doubts.

The article makes the statement that this car handles very well

Quote:
The car also holds the best-recorded speed for navigating the slalom (73.1 mph), and bests all others in the ever-important weight-to-horsepower ratio (2.33). "A lot of people think that powerful, American supercars are only good at going straight, but our car will out-handle just about anything that you put next to it," Shelby says. "When Road & Track tested a pre-production version of our car, it broke the Ferrari Enzo's slalom course record. It will just take time to get the word out on how capable we are."
**EDIT
The article is two pages long, if you bother to read it

where have i been owned exactly?

did i say the car sucked? i said the car in PGR4 sucked coz i couldnt tame it, then said that it is just game (ie doesnt reflect reality much beyond asthetics)

i asked one question about tyres... a valid question because it was mentioned that tyres capable of maintaining such ludicrous speed are hard to come by

then i shat my pants at 1000HP + proper driving controls mentioned that you shouldnt go pratting about in it because its a serious machine, then applauded the man for keeping electronics away from the car.

so i fail to see how i said that the cars an abomination that wont take a corner for love nor money. perhaps you should read first.
