Uuuuuuuh, no.
you're totally missing the point. you quoted Hawk for saying that it would destroy the Top Gear track. stop bringing up The Ring.

also, like everybody else has said......

YOU'VE YET TO SEE IT DO ANYTHING ELSE! so how the fuck do you know it can't take The Ring?

I think they should make special requirements for buying this car, like a special driving test. Otherwise we'll see lots of movie stars that think they are racing drivers killed by this monster.
I really want to see a lap comparison between this and the Pegaso Veyron.

first of all, there's only going to be 50 of these made. there's already talk about a dealership in Dubai and one in its hometown of West Richland, WA.

also, the Veyron Pegaso Edition has still yet to show its official numbers. so this claimed 1200hp is still just a rumor.

It may be fast, it may handle, it probably sounds insane, but the styling is 15 years old and looks like it was designed/built by a kit car manufacturer.

And this ain't helping it. It's probably one of the most boring super cars on the planet.

yeah, the interior is pretty generic and grey to be honest...

and about the shit fest that is apparently happening here...

just think about the CCX without the top gear wing, then with the top gear wing

then think about the downforce chat in the caparo T1 test when they are talking about the difference between mechanical grip and aerodynamic grip.

then think about this SSC TT / it weighs just enough to grip well with no downforce. but at the same time, it also weighs an ideal amount for using downforce to an advantage.

thats why I think this car ( with a huge functional rear wing) would probably be able to run under 1.15 on the TG track

they really should get this on TG, i know JC will knock the americaness of it, but it did do 257mph and that was on a closed stretch of highway. they might of gone even faster if they had somewhere like VW's test track to mince about on.

for me this car isnt a veyron rival though, people will make the comparisons because of speed but the veyron is an engineering showcase....its been a pet project fueled by the bottomless pit of VAG's wallet. they tried to do every single attribute to the max. for me this SSC sets out to be one thing.... the fastest, most agile car on the planet

and by MSN's accounts .... it looks like its achieved just that. official WR for the fastest car and, even tho its only a simple test, agility/handling is there if it averaged 70+ on a slalom without falling off.

considering these guys probably had no where near the coin of VW...... its quite an achievement. yeah the stylings a little late 80's early 90's with that wedge-ish shape (but there is a reason for it) and its got that kit-car look to it and the interior is a bit drab (you can have any colour you want tho) but i dont think anyone will give a damn when they see it go.

It would be a giggle thats for sure. Not sure I would want to drive it on the road.......or in the wet. But man on a track it would absolutely hammer. Especially give it a set of decent gear ratios (~320km/h).

Night Hawk, you have NO idea what you are talking about. You have no idea about how much downforce this thing is producing. Wings are a tiny part of producing downforce, there are much better ways to go about it.

well, if neither of us know how much downforce a stock SSC has then niether of us know how much a wing would help

im just saying that taking advantage of aerodynamics is probably the best way to make this car faster round a track given it already has 1200bhp, typical supercar suspension, sticky tires and low weight.

Massive bump, I know, but Jay Leno reviews the SSC Ultimate Aero at driving.timesonline.co.uk/, Clarkson's usual stomping grounds:

He really likes it, but you probably guessed that.

It's not a repost, but there is a thread about Leno's video on the SSC Ultimate Aero.
