Default New Audi Q7 V12 TDI for Detroit

http://www.motorauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/Audi/Q7/q7_tdi_small.jpg

Quote:
It looks like Audi has shown all its aces last year so has decided to rehash an old model into something a little more exciting. This Q7 gets the same V12 diesel engine developing 500hp and 100Nm as the normal car, but is now fitted with some Q-like gadgetry such as a g-force meter integrated in the instrument panel.

The most powerful production diesel engine to date pushes this 2-ton SUV to 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds, all the way to a self imposed top speed of 250km/h. Unique to the powerful diesel V12 is the world’s first use of a 2000 bar Bosch Common Rail system with cylinders angled at 60 degrees instead of the usual 72 degree angle bank. Amazingly, the V12 Q7 still gets a fuel economy rating of 11.9L per 100km.

Other changes include a new front air intake, oval exhaust tips, changes to the lights, and an uprated interior. It’s expected Audi will release this model in Spring 2008 with a price tag in the region of €120,000.

All Audi has to do now is put the V12 in the R8 sports car and change the way people think about diesel engines forever.

I like the looks...

"All Audi has to do now is put the V12 in the R8 sports car and change the way people think about diesel engines forever."

THAT would be really interesting to see.
As for the Q7, I can't be bothered, tough I like the new look.

Looks like it ate too much and is now drowsy. Those figures are wrong its 1000NM not 100.
Though ive heard nothing indicating this, i think it would be interesting to have that V12 diesel in the Bentley Arnage. The Arnage T has exactly those same figures coming from its twin turbo 6.75L V8. But it gets truly awful mileage. Their V8 has been around forever, but i think a diesel option would be pretty awesome.

Not a bad idea but who wants fuel economy in a car like an Arnage? Cars such as the Arnage are all about looking and sounding good, plus the diesel smells funny.

Im just saying its the main difference, sound wise you probably cant hear that much to begin with in the interior, and i believe the V8 is heavy and probably not too much lighter than the V12. I doubt the Arnage T revs past 5000rpm, and it makes around 740lbs/ft of torque at 3200rpm and 500hp at 4200rpm. But this V12 makes that same amount of torque at 1750rpm. So if anything, the V12 could make the Arnage a little bit quicker. And regarding smells...who gives a fuck images/smilies/tongue.gif

They should put the W12 into the R8 and save the diesel V12 for the A8.

So do people play mineswepper on that grille? Seriously, that grille is huge. I like the normal Q7 more to be honest.

Ugly grille, and I want to see that diesel in the R8, that would be the worlds first diesel powered proper sportscar. Someone has to be first, and I hope its not the frenchies.

Diesel does not smell bad, it really stinks!

Diesel is going back in time, hydrogen is the future

the Q7 on the pic: Yes the grill is too big, but audi-engineers seem to like it, and customers can't wait to buy one!

Looks like they've been studying Edsels for Grille designs. Bleh.
