FWD isn't a problem - it's just that RWD is a better layout for handling & grip (generally speaking - RWD can still be ballsed up). The only reasons FWD is the dominate layout today are cost & packaging - FWD is cheaper to build & allows more interior room.

Your point about touring cars is irrelevant - the only reason FWD cars dominate certain series is because the regulations lead to it. Kinda like saying women always dominate women's swimming events, so therefore women are better at swimming.

Thats not true, many touring car leagues feature RWD and AWD cars.

Personally I think it's fucking ugly and I much prefer a single exhaust pipe. It looks different and un-planned... I dunno but I just HATE!! small cars with small engines that have dual exhaust.

Duel exhaust doesn't even help unless you have a engine with very uneven firing intervals, and the i4 configuration is about completely 100% even firing, which is also why its so easy to make a i4 sound boring and obnoxious. Plus the only good duel exhaust system for a small car would have very small pipes, and because of people being insecure about their penis sizes that will never happen.

400nm through the front wheels thats a great plan... i wonder if it will have some sort of boost limiting like the mazdaspeed3. Either way lack of AWD makes me care less and less about this car also living in the states where we probably won't even get it.

Who was talking about an inline-4? The RS will have an upgraded version of the powerplant from the ST, and that one is an inline-5.

The series may feature them, but they'll be hobbled (extra weight etc) to ensure close racing, so the RWD layout isn't allowed to show it's natural advantage and dominate.

Torque steer is a minor problem that is easily dealt with by the driver modifying his line/setup. FF cars are competitive and with the right setup they can motivate around a track just as good as an FR, barring the heavier classes of GT racing.

All things being equal - i.e power & weight, both cars correctly set-up - a RWD car will be faster around a circuit than a FWD car.

An interesting read, gives a bit of insight on how they want to manage putting 300 bhp on the ground through the front wheels. Sounds all great and I do believe them, but nevertheless, even the most sophisticated suspension and limited slip diff won't increase the traction off the (straight) line. As there's no problem in breaking said traction even with a 200 bhp car, the grip will be limited in this RS. It might do great in corners and have no torque steer, but the limit of traction is a limit you can't overcome by clever techniques.

And I actually like the bodykit and stuff, it makes the car look loads better than a standard Focus.

300 through the fronts sounds more like a challenge than a bad idea to me, seeing how well they did with the ST.
I think they'll do it nicely. Ford, when they actually put their minds to something and bring technology in from their racing series, can build a properly-put together car.
Shame they won't sell it in the US, though.
I like the green. Seems garish, obnoxious, and the boy-racer bodykit fits the sort of character that the car should have.
