I'd get the FQ-360 and tune it up a bit. It will be a lot cheaper and look more of a sleeper.

And have no warranty. The point of the FQ model is warranty.

True but think of a single WRX or Evo owner who doesnt modify their car enough to void their powertrain warranty. The number of owners i know who actually enjoy and drive their car stock is in the vast minority.

I can see even FQ400 owners wanting to mess around and tweak it further.

I eagerly await this car's arrival upside down on fire in a hedge near me soon.

I'll see your "only people who void warranties would own a car like this", and raise you a "this car is made to be driven in warranty-voiding ways". images/smilies/tongue.gif

Completely in agreeance mate - I'm one of the modifiers so don't get me wrong. My point tho is, if you were going to modify you would just buy the base model GSR and then go to town with your own money. For the premium the FQ400 attracts over the base GSR, you take that money and pour it into your GSR and you will have a MUCH faster car, and probably just as reliably. But, the problem is then you have no warranty. The FQ cars (360 and 400 especially) are amazing cars, and the fact they keep a factory warranty is the most amazing thing. To buy one only to destroy what I think is the only advantage they have over modifying yourself, seems rather silly to me.

True but an RS4 is a better all around car. Also consider this:
1) 20 more HP out of an engine that will be able to produce it earlier (no turbo)
2) Last time my friend was at an Audi dealer a 2008 RS4 was 55K so 11K cheaper for a "better car"
3) From the above you can take the 11K you saved and tune it further, I don't think 500 or so HP would be out of reach on that car
4) Noise, it's a V8 after all images/smilies/smile.gif

C63 / M3 FTW!
Badge snob, then again you are a BMW driver so no surprise there images/smilies/wink.gif Engine is hardly over the front axel in the B8 configuration and RS4 did win sports car of the year at some point. C63 is useless can't put the power down.... RWD is the most fun drivetrain but AWD is more useable in a larger range of conditions.

Also on this I would have to disagree with the Top Gear's test of the 3 when they did it. It seemed like The Stig was trying to drive the AWD RS4 same way he was driving the RWD C63/M3. At least to me it seemed like he was struggling with it and not taking advantage of massive rolling acceleration.

The RS4 is a very nice car. Much nicer interior than the EVO - the kind of interior the EVO should have, but can only dream of... Very refined cruiser. I think the RS4 and EVO are in different categories personally. The EVO is a balls out racer for the road whereas the RS4 is a refined cruiser that just happens to have a big set of bollocks.

If the interior is the same as the one shown on Top gear thats good enough for me. images/smilies/wink.gif BTW if you modify the RS4 you won't have a warranty. images/smilies/wink.gif

I would have to agree that they are in different categories, however the main thing that Evo/STi have going for them is the price. Its basically impossible to go faster than that for the money in a car that isn't missing any body panels. With FQ400 however it is possible to go faster for the money. I mean really it is just 4K off the GT-Rs MSRP or a Z06 Vette.

If you ever dealt with Audi warranty service you wouldn't think it a problem (they fucking suck).

And the EVO is faster than a GTR at least in a straight line, unless you want to void your warranty in the GTR, and even then you'll be level peggings with the EVO. The Z06 would get beaten by the EVO to 100km/h too, and be slower around a track than the EVO.

It won't be enough of a difference and as I said at this price point it makes very little sense. Also we are just talking brand new cars here, there are older cars that would be just as fast if not faster and you could get them for much less money. Previous gen FQ400 being one images/smilies/wink.gif

Like I said at 36K Evo and STi are the fastest things for the money. At 66 there are other cars that would be faster/better in other ways.

Yeah, to be even remotely cool, you need at least 2 of the big bottles

Remember though, this is UK prices. Their Focus would've cost like US$30k. If Mistubishi USA were to make the similar spec car (assuming they can get it pass smog or not sell it in Cali), it would probably only cost $50-60k. Still, as a DSM owner, I would never buy a high powered Mitsubishi car, the reliability is just not there.
