From what I know, the EVO X uses a twin scroll ball bearing turbo. Can't see why it would be any different with the FQ400 model.
BTW, that race against a deisel car in 6th gear at 1mph is retarded. Who's going to be rolling around town at 1mph in 6th gear? Do the same race rolling from about 30mph in second gear and race it against an RS4, M3, C63 and it'll chew them up for breakfast! |

It was an exaggerated test, but it made a very good point about the ridiculous amount of turbo lag that car had (and while this new model may have less, until proven otherwise I'm saying it's still a very laggy thing). IMHO power is useless if it's not delivered in a progressive & responsive manner, and without having to drop down four gears.

I wonder how much fuel this thing is going to suck down.
The stock Evos already have a pathetic range on 1 tank..... |

18" rims? WTF is up with Evo and tiny ass wheels? Just about anything else in the class runs at least 19's.... Pretty decent specs but full torque is a bit late, gonna be downshifting on highways for overtaking I bet...

Personally, I think it´s good. Manufacturers are going too far with wheel sizes. The Holden with 22" wheels is a good example. Even the "regular" 20" are a bit to big for my tastes.

^Not to mention that TGA "proved" that too big rims are retarded for performance vehicles.

Rim size is all about unsprung mass. The 18" rims on that EVO wouldn't weigh much more than 7kgs each. Increasing the size increases the weight, which upsets handling. The reason cars like the GTR have enormous 20" rims, 1. Wank factor. 2. So they can run those massive 380mm disc brakes.
Gotta love the EVO bashing! Jealousy is such a curse...

It's an amazing looking car. Maybe one day I'll have a chance to drive one. I need to get behind the wheel of my friend's Impreza.

Cars are not only about performance, big wheels look good no getting away from that. I've found that EVO's tend to look a little weird because the body seems too large for wheels. The X doesn't have quite as much of a problem with that though but the 8 and 9 had it.

Full torque is at 3,500rpm, meaning it's making boost around 2,000rpm. Got forbid you have to drop a gear to overtake someone. ![]() If you want a lazy car, get an automatic. Or, get the EVO X FQ360 SST version. |
