Opel Vivaro VPC - Transit Sportvan competitor

We're sure the 500 owners who scored one of the limited-edition trucks are pleased with their selections. Ford isn't alone in addressing this segment, however.

In the Netherlands, Opel has gotten into the game with the Vivaro VPC. The Vivaro is, like the Transit, a panel van. Apparently, GM sees an opportunity to sell 100 tricked-out versions (at € 34,900 each) to Dutch commercial customers who wish to make their delivery rounds in something more sporty-looking than the average panel. It comes in the same blue paint used on the Opel OPC cars, rolls on OPC wheels, and wears a full appearance package including color-matched everything, an aggressive front fascia with intrgrated foglights, and dual, trapezoid-shaped exhaust exits in the rear. The VPC moniker is the final, and most obvious, hat tip to the OPC performance wing of the car division. A 2.5L CDTi turbodiesel with 143 horses supplies the power, and it's mated to a 6-speed manual. As for the driver, the cab's no penalty box either, as evidenced by two-tone leather and Alcantara Recaro sport seats that look as if they've been pilfered from a GT1 car. Delivering goods has never been so good.

I like it. Not too sure about that exhaust, but the interior is very cool.

you just skimmed through the article didn't you? there's only gonna be 100 examples of this van. rarer ALWAYS means its gonna be pricier than a base model.

also, what's wrong with the hoodvent? its subtle and doesnt stick 500ft above the car. its also functional with most likely the intercooler being there.

i'm am in no way a GM fanboy. i don't think of any GM car as the greatest cars in the world. if i thought that, wouldn't i just own GM products and not have a variety of cars in my garage?

i just happen to like this segment. i just wish every maker did something like this. lets see what a Sprinter would look like with AMG products bolted onto it.

This van is one of the stupidest, most ridiculous, utterly pointless vehicles I've ever seen. I should hate it to no end, but somehow I don't. It's almost like a modern version of the old shaggin' wagons. I like it!

On a note: the Vivaro's nothing more than a rebadged Renault Trafic, developed and built by Renault and available as Nissans and Opel vans over here as well.

And that sporty example is utterly pointless.

I drove a Vivaro in the Army for a whole year and I wanted to kill myself.

100.000 km's in 1 year = 3 gearboxes, 32494 small repairs and useless in the snow.

The 1.9 CRDI engine with the worts turbo-lag EVAR made the frontwheels spin even at 10 RPM images/smilies/tongue.gif

I've been in similarly powered vans. They go, stop and turn really well indeed, but with that bodykit it needs a bit more power or it's just a well-riced bread delivery van.
