Oh no I understand that, even without patronizing bold words. I just think there are still too many. There are several road going track cars, then several track going track cars.

And in which racing series does Sir plan on racing that?

Oh really? There is only one (GT3 RS) in the first category, and now three in the second. And annother thin is that the GT3 RS isn't su much a track car as you might think, it's no worse (in therms of comfort) on a cross continental journey than a normal Carrera, if EVO is to believe.

The 997 GT3 Cup is mostly just for the Porsche Supercup and it's competitiveness in other racing series is restricted by that. So then you might think, why not go for an RSR then? Well here's the clue, an FIA-spec RSR costs about £1/2 million from factory (with running costs being equally astronomical), so it's rather expensive for a small team. The Cup S falls neatly in between the two and can fulfill the roles the normal 997 Cup car can't be specced to do, but for less than half the price of an RSR, and is much cheaper to run.

And besides what's the problem about Porsche making even more win and awesome? When they announce something like a new Cayenne or the Panamera, people complain and say that they should focus on sports and racing cars, and when they launch a new racing car then guess what? People still complain... geez... images/smilies/wacko.gif

I think the OP explained well enough: Hardcore as it is, the GT3 RS is still a street-going trackday car. This new Cup S is a track racer through and through, and the intended customers are obviously race teams, not ordinary people looking for a fast drive.

It's the sort of car a race team might end up building with the GT3 RS as a base.

Guys, get it through your thick skulls: this is a RACE car. The GT3 RS is not.

no. the GT3 Cup is just a decked out GT3 RS made for the track. building a Cup RSR would be retarded. if Porsche makes it an RSR, then Porsche would be wasting money because they're making practically the same car with 2 different names.

Added the apparently popular 'patronizing bold' so your thin skull absorbs the fact I've had to state twice already; that I understand the differences. They're irrelevant to my point. images/smilies/smile.gif

ITS A FUCKING RACE CAR! not a road car, not a street-going race car, not a "hardcore" special. just a plain, Porsche built race car that is on sale to the masses instead of big named racing teams like Flying Lizard.

I don't care about the GT3 anymore. I want to see a GT2 force-fed, stripped out race car. Like this:
