I think the whole point of those cars is to convice your wife to allow you to buy an Aston/Porsche

I like the Rapide's looks and hope the panamera will turn out to be nice, too

Well, the Panamera looks like a shiznit, but the Aston looks kinda nice... can't imagine the backseats are all that (head)roomy though....

The Panamera is the kind of thing that if i drew it, i would tear the piece of paper, throw it in the bin and feel ashamed, and hope nobody nosing through the bin would put the bits together and see it.

It's completely unacceptable to ask for money for it. It's not a matter of taste. It's fucking deformed. It's a 911 with downs syndrome.

The Rapide isn't very nice looking either. Since all these cars are just modified DB9s, they're obviously always going to look worse, since the DB9 was designed to be a car with the proportions of... the DB9... To look good with the proportions of a four door car they need to design something that... isn't the DB9...

Urgh. These companies should pay me millions to use me as a consultant.

Proof that Porsche's design concept doesn't work as a saloon, exists in the Panamera. It's a disgusting beast compared to the beauty of the Rapide.

Say what you like about what Aston have done to make the Rapide, it's still a thing of beauty.

Still don't understand why some ppl love these cars or think that a stretch DB9 or 911 looks beautiful. Its like a supermodels body, beautifully proportioned...then you put an extra 3 feet stretch extension in the middle and ruin the whole image.

Both cars represent a whole lot of DO NOT WANT to me. If they want to design bespoke sedans, make them LOOK like sedans, like a quattroporte.

i dont get it, surely the last place these cars are ever gonna go is the track, or even at hair raising speeds on B-roads. you buy 4 doors coz you have a family and you dont do balls to wall fast when you have a family,

Well, why are you destined to be boring just because you have a family? They're not always in the car with you you know.

The Aston would be a hundred times better if they cut off a foot or two in the middle. It has the same lengthed door as a DB9... who's idea was it that a bigass coupe door would work on a 4 door? Seriously.

Yeah.... the Panamera is somewhere between a sedan and an estate (lol @ randomly mixing American and British terms). Not a big fan. If they were really trying they might have made it slightly longer and given it a bit of a rear deck so that it would look like a car instead of just a thing. The Rapide is quite nice, but I still think it needs to be just a bit shorter - if you want your rear passengers to be comfy and able to stretch their legs way out, don't buy a sports car, screw them.

You've just given me a horrid, horrid thought; no sooner will the Panamera be released than it will be turned into a tacky stretch limo for hen nights and... actually, just hen nights. After all, the Cayenne has already fallen victim.

At least that hideous roofline will come in useful.

Today is a sad day, for it seems Aston Martic has failed at making such a car beautiful in areas where even Mercedes has succeeded (CLS).

Both of those cars should be scrapped while their ahead, i can't think of any better way to belittle the companies name and appeal.

To each their own - to my eyes the Rapide is stunning, and I'm no fan of the droopy CLS.

The Panamera is gonna be a real stinker when it shows up... the shape is so undignified.

The Rapide on the other hand, bellissima, as avanti would say. But why bother putting camo on it? Not only does it look like all other Astons, we saw the concept over 2.5 years ago. images/smilies/tongue.gif

Edit: So sick of seeing this unfounded bashing of these cars, just like we had when the Cayenne came out. These cars aren't any less pointless than your average Porsche, Ferrari or Aston. Who would take one of these to the track? The same people who take their M5 and RS6 to the track. Stop bashing it, especially since this a new segment of the automotive market we've never had before. Let's see how it'll turn out.

those who are saying that cars like these does not make sense, rubbish! I'll give you an example.. you are 35 years old, 2 kids, and a hefty income. You want something exciting to drive, but you also want 4 doors to take your kids to places, you don't want an ordinary and boring foor-door saloon (5 series, E-class, A6) or an ugly SUV, and you'd like a bit of style. What are you going to get?
