Then how come there's 911 turbos here in boring carsville? A GT2/3, I've never seen one, and they're definitely exotic(ish), but turbos just... I don't think they're that rare. I saw one just yesterday on the street where I always see corvettes cruising around (hehe, I saw 3 corvettes at one intersection a little while ago, two going opposite ways and one just off to the side driving through a parking lot so they clearly weren't together). But I don't know why there aren't more Mazzers, since half of Mercedes' line costs more than either the GT or Quattroporte.

Fact of the matter is, Maserati are neither as exotic nor as exlusive as Aston and Ferrari... and higher-end Porsches like the 911 turbo/GT2/GT3 to me are more exotic.
Srry but when exotica comes to my mind i think in Italian Cars , not germans or british cars

I think doing an exotic car is something that only the italians can do images/smilies/wink.gif

And yet it's a rare sight to see a QP, or most other mazzers for that matter.

The design drawings for the Panamera looked good when I saw them in Auto Express... years back. Without going back through hundreds of issues I reckon it was about 2004/2005 when it was first mentioned as an "upcoming car" - when 2009 seemed like a lifetime away. I was going to try and find one of these old sketches so I could scan it, then I went on the internet and I found THIS:

http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/2363/images/4/large.jpg

...from topgear.com, incidentally. Now, if it had turned out like this, I doubt there'd have been nearly as many people reaching for the sick bags. So how, and more importantly, why did it turn into the monstrosity on this thread?

I'm going to bet that when TG series 12 hits our screens, even the 911-nut that is Richard Hammond will hate it. And you can call me Susan if it isn't true.

I would say it does look like that, obviously not as low-slung but that would never be realistic unless it was stupidly long. The general shape, right down to the tail lights are very similar.

no.. just no to the panarema

the rapide looked way cooler when I first saw it at the detroit auto show in 2006... it had a chess board and wine cooler behind the rear seats which turned iirc.
