Rumour about porsche's next generation supercar - Porsche Carrera GT II [Photoshop!]

A popular german car-mag rumours about porsche's next generation supercar,
the "porsche carrera gt II".
It may be based on the famous porsche carrera gt and will possibly be presented in 2010 and raced in the issue of the legendary 24h le mans race in the same year.

supposed specifications:
- engine: 6,0l DOHC V10 Biturbo, 750 - 950 bhp / 8200 rpm (an evolution of the 5,7 V10 engine of the first carrera gt)
- drivetrain: 4WD (thouhg i rather believe that it is going to have rear-wheel drive)
- transmission: 7-gear-DSG
- weight: 1270kg
- acceleration 0 - 60mp/h / 0 - 100km/h: 3,4s
- topspeed: 370+ km/h
- price: 1.000.000€

Looks like Porsche's designers have been busy designing reading glasses because clearly they all left the project after designing the taillights. I'm guessing the engineers took it upon themselves to "finish" the car.

Which begs a bigger question: if you're gonna create a pchop of a car, why not at least make it look good?

Hey I don't care what it looks like, as long as it still sounds amazing (possibly the greatest engine noise on the market today) it's great by me.

off course the pictures are made by photoshop, but in most cases they are made on the basis of insider information! i bet, porsches next supercar won't look like the one on the photos und it won't be named "porsche carrera gt II", either!
but the fact that this thing is going to be realized can be assumed surely, because every sportscarmanufacturer needs to develop a technologically outstanding supercar every couple of years, which pushes the limits in order to consolidate their corporate identity und therefore it is most likely that this thing is going to be raced at le mans, too.
if it hadn't been vw's wish, that audi / bentley raced their r8 / speed 8 at le mans, even the "old" carrera gt would have been a LMP I racecar instead of becoming an road versoin, but they wanted to avoid a corporate internal competition.
after audi retired from racing their diesel r10 it is going to be porsche's turn to race and win at le mans, again.

didn't someone die testing a Carrera GT race car before it became a production car?

also, Porsche has already confirmed there will be a replacement for the CGT. it won't even be named the Carrera is what i heard. it'll have a totally different name.

You're thinking about the LMP1. (more about that here) They only ran it a couple of times before it was shelved to make way for the Audi R8.
