That doesn't change the fact that the Mustang isn't the right car to be KITT. I agree that it needs to be slick and cool. The Mustang is definitely a cool car, but its not modern and slick like Knight Rider of old. I agree that it should be something like a Vette, or even the Solstice or Sky. The Ford GT sounds like a great idea too, especially since a large amount of CG stuff will be used in this show (probably). The only reason that the Stang might work is that its such a normal car that it would blend in, but even that doesn't work for me.

No. There were no good versions of Knight Rider, period. The only thing giving it any popularity at the moment is a haze of nostalgia.

you're obviously too young to remember (even though the show is still on TV Land and the like), but this show was back in the mid-80's. it looked like it was produced in the late 70's compared to other shows around that time and the acting was extremely bad. the A-Team and Knight Rider are memories from our childhood and we didn't really care at all how it looked and how well the people acted. now that we've grown up, we see now how much the show sucks. but 'til this day, we are still in love with the show.

by the way Berserker, its not a recreation. its practically a continuation of the series with Michael Knight's son being the main character. they haven't said if The Hoff will make an appearance or not. but that's mainly the plot right now.

That's pretty much dead on. Doesn't matter the car. I think the cool factor comes from people not really remembering the details of the shows. It was cool in the 80's and that's where it belongs.

That car works because it doesn't scream "I'm a Firebird...buy one! You know you want to!" It's just a cool futuristic looking vehicle. But I guess the producers had to please Ford by keeping the car easily recognizable as a Mustang. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

All the following Knight Rider shows were nothing more than vehicles for product placement. The original Knight Rider was about KITT, not Pontiac. So far I think the Corvette is the best choice, it's relatively cheap, it looks good, it's similar in proportions to the Firebird and it could easily be given a treatment to make it seem different enough from other 'Vettes to stand out.

The original KITT was a sleek, futuristic design. The new Mustang is a bluff-nosed retro design. Which of these does not belong?

It really isn't going to make much difference in the end. The movie is going to have ridiculous special effects like morphing into trucks, a pot of yoghourt and Jeff Bridges. It's going to have a insanely good looking male star, a female K.I.T.T. and its going to take itself way too seriously.

I think the remake needs to look back at the old episodes of Knight Rider, realise how awful they truly were, and make subtle digs at that.

Personally I think KITT could have been better in the new iteration as a Corvette - at least a Corvette would resemble KITT's classic Trans Am bodyshape. I love Shelby Mustangs but as KITT?

He makes a good point, i loved the original 80s show to death as a kid, but ive watched reruns since then, and now as an adult, it kind of makes me cringe. It's a pretty bad/cheesy show that didn't age well at all.
