Default Spied: 2008 Nissan GT-R

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/...8-nissan-gt-r/
Quote:
Spy photographers caught what appears to be a production prototype of the 2008 Nissan GT-R. The car was seen in testing at the Nürburgring this week in Germany.

The car is based on the highly popular Nissan GT-R concept, first unveiled in late 2005. Earlier this year, the Japanese automaker announced the GT-R would be badged as a Nissan, much to the disappointment of Infiniti dealers. Since unveiling the concept, Nissan has tried to limit the car's exposure to prevent tiring the public.

Pricing is expected somewhere around $70,000. When Nissan first previewed the concept, it said the show car was 80 to 90 percent representative of the final shape. Rumors have indicated the car will feature a 3.2 liter twin turbo V6 engine with 480 horsepower. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2008

I think it looks even better than the concept! images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Funny...it looks just like the concept. Which is good. But still, most pointless camo job ever. 8)

Looks really really good, love the rear view even with the rocket exhausts. Please Nissan don't ruin it, just stick a GT-R badge on the front and one hell of an engine under the bonnet and vala.

something i noticed from the spy photos, about the vents on the bonnet...for a twin turbo engine, id expect the vents to be a bit bigger? then again, the originals weren't that big either so i guess its just keeping with design

Why would you expect big bonnet vents, if any at all? GT-Rs have always had front mounted intercoolers.

I love it. Very muscular in appearance. The only thing I don't like is the exhaust pipes. They are too big and of proportion.

Shame it'll cost $80,000 or so.

if it has the performance figures that they claim, then thats not too bad of a price figure (twin turbo V6, 450hp). Remember, people have paid well over $100K USD on previous Skylines just to be able to say they have one.

Maybe those large exhaust pipes are a sign of something bigger under the hood. Maybe it isn't a twin turboed V6...

I'd agree with you, but for the fact that you could have coke cans coming out of an inline four if you wanted to.

And that's exactly why I see this being about as popular as the NSX. Fans and teenagers will drool over it, but the people with actual money will pass it over for a Porsche (More presige, less boy-racer) or Z06(most likely faster), because the people who have most of the free cash are in their 50's and don't play Gran Turismo.
