So is this new Boss V8 engine a SOHC two valve design? If they decided to go with a two valve design, why didn't they just stick with an OHV design to reduce complexity and possibly weight and size?

I imagine they designed the engine with a 4v option for the future. This engine was based on the modular engines, and with both the 4.6L and the 5.4L ford had 2v, 3v and 4v depending on the application.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4v high performance version in a few years.
