The Ugliness that is the X1 is finally here!

Yay! <---- sarcasm.

One nice thing is that the higher-spec diesel, (what will probably be the only option in the US I guess?), gets to 60 in 7.3, which isn't bad. Wonder what the mileage is. Doesn't matter though, it's fugly. I just don't like that blockish kidney grill, the rear is ok though the taillights look funky as they cross over onto the trunk. Interior is nice though.

The inside is typical Bimmer fare as well, with a sober but handsome and well-screwed-together look. The usual accoutrements are present in the photo models' driver oriented instrument panels, including iDrive, USB ports, and thumb-shifters for the automatic.

We're already tired of BMW's awkward model naming conventions, but regardless, the CUV is expected to launch in Europe in xDrive18i and xDrive 18d configurations, along with an xDrive20d model whose 177 hp diesel is apparently good for 60 mph in 8.4 seconds, an xDrive23d model with a 204 hp oil-burner (0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds, top speed of 139 mph), as well as the xDrive28i, which is apparently good for 143 mph. No word yet on what models we'll see in the U.S. just yet, but we'd be surprised to see anything less powerful than the xDrive28i in Stateside dealers, and we'll keep our fingers crossed for a diesel variant.

According to current scuttlebutt, the X1 will launch in autumn exclusively paired with all-wheel drive, but rear-wheel drive versions are expected to come on line soon thereafter. Check out the gallery below and keep checking back with us for further details as they become available.

Actually compared to the X6 its not that bad. I don't think it's ugly enough to matter its just pointless.

To be honest, I think the X6 is one of the better looking cars in the BMW range right now. But a lot of people will shoot me for saying that images/smilies/lol.gif

That photo with the white X1 from the front is horrible. The weird bulbous bonnet coupled with the black lip is the epitome of ugly. Does BMW already have the largest selection of SUVs already? X1,X3,X5,X6? So when is the ultra-luxury BMW Escalade, sorry X7 due?

Oh BMW, why? The rear is unspeakably ugly... the X3 looks almost handsome in comparison.

This should be showing up on our streets here shortly, then. I bet the idiots around here will eat it right up.

Same in my area. People just think OHHHH! BMW! and it's an SUV! And it's smaller than that other small cute one! (X3) Honey, can I have one for Christmas, I think it'd be fun. That 2008 model is looking dirty lately....

I disagree, the X6 is the best looking "offroader" by bmw.

But this does serve one purpose.... knocking the X3 off its ugliest-bmw throne.
