Somewhere, Cameron Diaz is crying. And Jeremy Clarkson is having a ceremonial barbeque. images/smilies/twisted.gif

The body was accidentally unearthed from a shallow grave by construction workers. Because of Parkinson's.

well, the recall has nothing to do with the hybrid aspects of the car, so who really cares? They have these sort of recalls all the time.

Dude, we could pick any car manufacturer and sit here posting recalls. They all have them. What's the point?

None of them have built their reputations on Toyota's "OMFG SQUEEKY CLEAN RELIABILITY RECORD", though, so it's a tempting target.

there is a recall every week ..
dont act like this is something spesial..

Toyota tok the Record away from Nissan a year ago .. recalling 1,3(?) million cars in one go..

on a side note .. GM has recalld more then that over the last year .. but they do it in steps.. so the press never notices...

FACT: japanese and european carmakers recall cars for minor bugs (and always cars made before and after the problem acured).. US makers recall cars when they must.. and only the cars they know have the problem..

(minor bugs = minor safty bugs.. )

My grandmother has a yaris that got a recall on it a few yers ago .. and guess what .. it didnt need it .. they did it just to be on the safe side..
(the problem was on cars one year older..)

Maybe in Europe. But here, nobody noticed this recall for the Prius besides one article in MSNBC, while the Corvette's roof flying off caused a hissy fit as everybody panics. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

I think you're right. It seems that the Japanese carmakers (and possibly European as well) recall in order to prevent potential problems that may in fact very rarely occur, which in turn keeps their reliability ratings high.
