WorldCarFans.com short description:
Quote:
Back in 2006 Michiel van den Brink designed the GTO together with Robert Koumans. Following an overwhelming response this design will become reality as Vandenbrink Design continues the revival of special coachbuilding by creating this tribute to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.

Set to come in two versions, the 650 hp 599 GTO and high performance 750hp 630 GTO both will be built in cooperation with EDO competition.

Production on the hand built vehicle will commence next year by aluminium craftsman Alwin Hietbrink who is well known worldwide for restorations such as the genuine Ferrari 250 GTO. Responsible for the interior is well known Italian interior designer, Henk van Lith.

The GTO will be limited to just 5 units and will cost a staggering €993,000 not including the base 599 GTB Fiorano and taxes.
This cars news to me...good news I might add!

Soooo....this or the Alfa 8C images/smilies/dunno.gif

There is a video on WCF. Anyone know if its possible to use that code and post in on our forums? I tried but it didn't work.

No contest - the 8C walks it. I can see what they were trying to achieve with this car - but it's proportions are out of whack - the roofline is way too high & bulbous, and makes the windscreen look too narrow. The detail around the bottom of the side window & the trailing edge of the door is too fussy too - distracts from the side profile.

It looks a little too high off the ground and a little too bulky in the back. It looks better than anything Ferrari currently makes though.

I think one of the reasons it looks out of proportion compared to the original 250 is the wheels and tyres on this one are a lot larger. They fill out the guards a lot more, and as a result, make the car look smaller than it actually is.

Not bad, but I don't want to drive a replica or a near-identical homage to a car that once was. Design something new, and make it earn its reputation.

it's not like ferrari designed the car. it's custom coachwork like the P4. So what the customer wants the customer gets and in this case the request was for an homage to the 250GTO

personally i think it looks fantastic.

I'm glad someone else saw that BUT €993,000 not including the base 599 GTB Fiorano and taxes. That takes it WELL over a million euros.

So you could have this.....or a 599 GTB for everyday and a Bugatti Veyron for weekends?? It looks exactly like a Marcos TSO!

The price some people will pay for exclusivity astounds me.

I don't care how good your coachwork is, and that it's limited to 5 cars, it sure as hell not worth a million euro.

It's not $1 million dollar worth of pretty. In particular, those rims look like they came from a Hyundai.
