There is a more pronounced V-shape on the front. Doesn't really do much though - I was never really a fan of the Phaeton. |

| You hardly ever see Phaetons on the road and when you see one you think its just an oversized Passat, the interior is kick ass but the exterior is bring, this facelift doesn’t seem to be much different. | |

so true. looks "eh", but the few people i know who own one say they would buy another. personally, i think a used Phaeton is probably the best value luxury sedan out there... under $55,000 USD for a 2006... massaging/heated/cooled front and rear seats.... etc etc.. thats around a $20,000 first year hit for depreciation... http://tinyurl.com/y2bpyo If you can find a W-12, they are even cheaper on the used market --> a 2004 for $45,000 with 30,ooo miles on it - that is a $60,000 hit from depreciation over 2 years!! http://tinyurl.com/y48eod now while not many of these cars come on the used market, these prices are right about average when they are there... | |

and i don't see how anyone can mistake them for a passat, they just look completely different and the A3, A4, A6 and A8 all look the same, no one has a problem with that, so why would it be a problem with the phaeton

| Despot | I like them too. A great car if you have enough money and you want a lot of space and comfort, and you have a large enough penis to not having to impress women or friends with your cars "blingness". |

| To a VW fan the Passat and Phaeton may look completely different, but not to everyone else. The Phaeton to me looks like you could slap a Ford badge and a MSRP $20,000 on it and call it the new Five Hundred.

Car: Golf IV TDI Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That facelift is just suitable to boost sales figures in near future ![]() Liked the old version better, and alokharidas: I first thought you used called it Audi Phaeton on purpose because it's very similar to the Audi A8 now! (Gotta be careful with those things, might as well get you a new title )Last edited by mautzel; October 25th, 2006 at 09:06 PM.. |

| Understated doesn't have to mean utterly boring. The Phaeton is understated, that's through, but it's not really pretty.. Most Audi's are understated, yet they look really good. They have presence, ynlike this one. I saw a Phaeton recently, and i wasn't until i looked at the badge at the back that i realized that it was a Phaeton. Up until then i had just though that it was a Passat or some other ordinary VW. The Phaeton is just a lump of car. That said, having sat in one, it is a quite nice car. You don't really care that much about the exterior looks when witting in it. =) And i bet that W12 engine is brilliant.. ![]() | |

I rarely see them on the road. I think I would never notice the changes. To be honest I'm a bit astonished that they haven't stopped producing it yet. Wasn't the car a big loss for VW? |

Car: Golf IV TDI Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yep, they're very rare indeed and Volkswagen cannot possibly make any profit out of them, but Mr.Piech is still in the supervisory board of Volkswagen and since it was his baby he won't kill it off now and acknowledge that he was wrong about people's demand for a luxury Volkswagen. |

Plus not everyone wants people to know they are driving around in a $80k-$100k(new) car. |

Car: Subaru Legacy Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I saw one today! Phaeton, that is. I think it's the second one I've ever seen in my life. The driver was an old man. German, perhaps? I doubt many other people would understand the point of the car. Both the grille treatment and the bumper character line are similar to those on the E-Class facelift. It's alright, but it still doesn't appeal to me. |
