Is it possible to make one of these city cars without that stupid blunt front end? I might actually be more inclined to like them if someone would do that.

Agreed. That and without the stupid name.

No, because the Euros said that the front end has to be a minimum height in the name of "pedestrian safety". I'm sorry, you're getting hit by A CAR. It's not going to help!
The Europeans have ruined car design.

As far as I've heard, it was supposed to be made at Volkswagen Bratislava for Europe. The Indian production costs probably apply to some stripped out indian version.
The final will car will probably quite different from the concept, including the front end, as the concept had RR layout, while the production car will have the coventional FF layout. |

I'm saying that they have NOW ruined car design, sheesh. The new hood height mandate from the EU means that most cars will now look like some form of SUV.

Yeah, I just all about those silly new safety features for pedestrians...
First off the bumpers will be made very soft, to soften the hit. Then there is an airbag...somehow under the hood, that lifts it up a bit, again to soften the hit. And finally there is another airbag behind the windshield that blows up when a passenger is hit. Madness!

And Spectre was referring to Europeans ruining car design NOW as in all the new cars being made look absolutely hideous because of European pedestrian safety laws.
And I agree with him 100%.

Better get used to it. They're not going to get rid of safety laws just for design reasons.

It would be funny if VW released the Up! with a model designation called 'Yours' ...

I'm going to say this actually doesn't look too bad for a small city car.

Sounds like that could kill a person if it hit them at that speed. So, no, I doubt it can.

See, here's the thing. If you see that coming your way, and you're on foot, you run far, far away. The Euros need spikes like that on their front bumpers. Maybe then less people will be runover.
