| A Payne in the Glass Heya, Some of you may have got used to me being around here by now. I'd like to use this thread to spread the word of my new radio show. I study at the University of Warwick, in the UK, and I recently began a radio show at RaW (Radio at Warwick) - in fact, the first broadcast was this morning. It's an hour and a half long and is called A Payne in the Glass, which is a pun on the surnames of me and my co-presenter, Chris. We have music, games with prizes, chat and pretty much a lot of fun. I know it sounds like every other radio show in the world but bear with me. The show is on from 0730-0900 GMT on Mondays, making it a breakfast show. If you happen to live near Warwick Uni you can listen on 1251am, but really it's easier to listen online, at http://radio.warwick.ac.uk. The station actually prefers it if you do, because it sounds better, it reaches more people, and they can monitor how many people are on the site. I'm guessing that none of you would want to wake up early (or stay up late if you're in the USA), or listen in at whatever time it is for you around the globe, which is why I'm turning the show into a podcast. Each week I'll record the show in full quality and remove the songs, partly because it'll shave 40-50 minutes each week, and partly because it means it's not illegal filesharing. This is allowing many of my friends and family to hear the show. This week's show - the first - runs for 40 minutes (out of the 90 we were on air for, we had 50 minutes of songs and news) and I'd be very grateful if you wanted to give it a listen. The time will fly by - it did for us in the studio ![]() And the show will definitely improve week on week, as we become more acquainted with the studio and each other (though we're mates, and talk all the time, it's a little different when you're live to an audience). I've uploaded the first show on Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2t50dvimnwo So please give it a listen! You can put it on your iPod, listen to it while you work, listen to it in the car, have a bath with it on if you're a bit weird... it's got good reviews so far and I'd love to hear what you all think! Many thanks if you've read this far, Mike ![]() UPDATE - We have a new slot now: 9-10am GMT on Monday mornings. In case you wanted to know ![]() UPDATE - We've decided against reapplying for a third term of our show. But fear not, faithful listeners, your intrepid host is moving on to Your Opinion Is Worthless, a film show for everyone who's prepared to admit they're wrong. | Okay, so I figure that nobody's that interested, but just in case someone is and didn't say anything, I'm gonna link to the second episode anyway. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?b6ci02mznkn Give it a try - what's the worst that could happen? ![]() | |

| It's actually quite good. You are certainly no worse than the majority of breakfast talk show hosts.

Car: '71 Mercedes-Benz 280S Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't listen to the radio very much because they only ever seem to play chart hit rubbish and the presenters yammer on and on about god knows what. There is a community radio station here in town that plays interesting music that suits my tastes and employs presenters that basically just tell the listener the name of the song that was just played, what the current time of day is and the name of the next song that will be played. On the rare occasion that I listen to radio that's the station I listen to. But I would like to commend you on your efforts and wish you good luck. Local radio can be a really good place to start a career in the entertainment business - just look at our own wee Richard Hammond! The skills you learn can be applied to almost any radio station and if you find you have a real talent for it there's no telling where it can take you. |

| Episode 10 - http://www.mediafire.com/?70zbydnzzmt We had a special guest at the end of the show (alright, just another DJ from RaW, but still, it was fun). In fact, the whole show was good fun. Today was very enjoyable. Lively chat, good jokes, and some cracking songs. It might have been our last FM show. We don't know when RaW's going back onto AM... either way, we've enjoyed the FM period. | |

| Episode 12 - http://www.mediafire.com/?xqydxidsxms I enjoyed today. A lengthy discussion about why The Matrix is believeable but Alien 3 isn't? Always good fun. | |

| Episode 13 - http://www.mediafire.com/?oc1jcadr1mu We'll be off for a few weeks following this show because of the holidays. So we rounded off this term with seven minutes of prog rock, a call to my mum, and a swear word. | |
