All the webisodes are out and point to a great season, I'm really looking forward to see what's going on with all the various story arcs and all that. Too bad I have to download it like a foreigner since I work during it's airtime. ![]() |

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ok, the production value of BSG is excellent, but I think we have certainly entered the "Empire Strikes Back" phase. This series is very VERY dark and rather fucked up - and not in a good way either. Many of the characters, although acted very well, I despise; I know that's the point of those characters, but still. The best thing Baltar could have done was to get himself blown up or shot, would someone please kill that traitorous, spineless, shadow of a man? No one that should have died has. Currently topping my hit list are the Colonel's wife and Baltar. I think the guy who was the bridge officer on Gallactica and now the aid to Baltar will get killed for being a collaborator even though he's the mole. I'm glad BSG is back, but damn, this was a real downer.

| I'm not Moe | BSG only has a sweet intro. the show itself is boring as hell and is nothing at all like the original. |

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | It's nothing like the original because the original sucked donkey balls. So far I feel it's off to a GREAT start. A seriously solid storyline has been laid down, and they aren't shying away from difficult issues. One of the things I love about BSG is that it's a much more "mature" series than most scifi shows that just contain pretty visuals and rather bland writing(stargate, star trek, etc). Rather than focusing on the technology of space travel or the future it's merely used as a backdrop to tell a very human story and to delve into issues of modern times. To be honest I was more than a little skeptical about the whole "new caprica occupation" thing but now that I've seen what they're doing with it, I think it's a great turn in the storyline. They couldn't just run thru space forever. I like the dark undertones, I don't think enough scifi gets down to the dark human elements. A foreign occupation isn't going to be pretty, and probably even less so if it's an entirely different race other than human doing the oppressing. great stuff. |

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | Aye, I just hope they don't get too political and preachy about it. I watch SciFi to be entertained, not for a lecture on politics.

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | On the up side, it sounds like a good firefight is on the horizon. That should be good. Call me simple, but I love a good spaceship fight, and BSG does the best job of getting the physics right. Star Trek always bugged me because they never really break the 2D plane, and when they do the ships, while being on a different plane are still lined up as though there is "up" and "down." Also they are out there banking and swooping through space like aircraft, where there is no matter to bank against. BSG does the best job showing how spacecraft would actually maneuver. I loved it the first time I watched a dog fight and the ships would spin around and fly backwards while shooting at a pursuing fighter. BSG still does a bit of the "bank and swoop" but they are closer to reality than Star Trek ever was. I especially like it when they show the dogfights and the sound is distorted, like it's being transmitted through the airframe or coming over the radio instead of traveling through a nonexistent atmosphere - another way BSG is superior to Star Trek.

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Yeah BSG is really good on the technical details even tho they don't go into depth on the technology, which I like. Shows like Stargate and Star Trek always tried to find ways to explain the future technology and if you are a tech minded person it comes out sounding aweful and totally unrealistic. Plus, Stargate especially uses a lot of deus ex machina and I hate that shit. BSG uses a lot of military terms and style, since one of the creators was in Navy ROTC during college. I like how they aren't always talking about the tech and shit, unlike other shows. If you walk around an aircraft carrier people just do thier jobs, they don't give long speeches about power sources and bullshit like that, and that's how BSG is. The galactica is pretty much a space aircraft carrier(with a little AEGIS mixed in), and the tech is a backdrop, not a main character(unless you take into account the cylons). I think thier military experience really helps in this regard. I think BSG is probably the most realistic scifi I've seen. ST and SG and shit always seems too comical, overdone, underwritten, whatever. It's all a bit hokey, but BSG you can kinda see happening in a long time(or another galaxy). About the space battles, if you watch you can see the maneuvering thrusters fire whenever the crafts turn, so they aren't doing the bank and swoop kinda thing based on aerodynamics, they use the thrusters just like the space shuttle. I guess you could say BSG is a sci-drama. It has a much deeper and more relistic storyline than most scifi. ST and SG are cartoons compared to BSG. It's for this reason I really like it. Star Trek always bored me with thier DEM and simple plots and lack of reality and usually poor acting. BSG tends to suck me in better, it's kind of like watching a Band of Brothers type of series, only about another galaxy, instead of some saturday morning cartoon about aliens and warp drives. very much looking forward to the rest of the season! |

| I'm not Moe | Half of what ST does is far from realistic at all, but its meant to be more fiction than science. The original BSG was a Star Wars knock-off, and the new one is trying to get rid of that label by making it seem darker and much more focused. It fails to keep my interest. To me the first three series of ST>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BSG. i agree that BSG is a whole lot more realistic and all, but it has no where near the amount of appeal and charm that ST carries. but thats just my opinion, im not saying either of you is wrong or that im right |
