Default Bioshock

i don't know about anyone else, but i'm really excited about this game. i've been watching the in game movies and i'm really impressed by it. for people who haven't seen it yet, here are some links:

http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/

http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/b/bioshock/

Quote:
After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. BioShock forces you to question the lengths to which you will go and how much of your humanity you will sacrifice...to save your own life.
Features
  • Take control of your world by hacking mechanical devices, commandeering security turrets and crafting unique items critical to your very survival.
  • Upgrade your weapons with ionic gels, explosives and toxins to customize them to the enemy and environment.
  • Genetically modify your body through dozens of Plasmid Stations scattered throughout the city, empowering you with fantastic and often grotesque abilities.
  • Experience truly next generation graphics that vividly illustrate the forlorn art deco city, highlighted by the most detailed and realistic water effects ever developed in a video game.
  • Make meaningful choices and mature decisions, ultimately culminating in the grand question: do you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture¿or save them?
so what does everyone else think of it? images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm extraordinarily keen. It looks fantastic. I've already requested my review copy from 2k, hope they start distributing the press review copies early, I can't wait!

I'm really looking forward playing this game!!!
I played it's spiritual prequel "System Shock 2" when it was released and it simply blew my mind. scary as hell!!! images/smilies/biggrin.gif And this looks like it's going to rock again!!! Actually it's one of the reasons which makes it more difficult to choose between buying a PS3 (GOD! Gran Turismo 5 it's going to make me so happy and MGS4 too! But no other intersting games) or an Xbox (Gears of War, Bioshock, TestDrive Unlimited 2, Mass Effect, PGR4 etc).
Difficult decision!!!!! images/smilies/sad.gif

wow, just wow.

demo is pretty strange, but i think that's the whole game images/smilies/smile.gif

love the weapons, but i think i'll have to get better at hacking bots before i try it again. you really have to be ready for the unexpected, it made me jump a few times too.

demo was good, i like how theatrical it feels. however it seems pretty damn easy even on the harder mode

i have to say though, im not blown away by the graphics, they are nice indeed but not utterly amazing. they feel like a blend of the doom3 engine and the UE3 engine to me. the textures and character models look alot like the ones used with the D3 engine and then its all overlayed with the bloom/glo effect like in rainbow 6 vegas.

perhaps i was sat a little too close to the screen lol. kinda saw some of the lower res textures and places in need of some AA.

the water effects are pretty nice but IMO HL2 still has some of the best water rendering out there, and CoD3 has better smoke.

i guess i have been looking at crysis too much! (btw, at last a game where u can look at the ground and actually see feet and legs! and if you pick up an object you actually get to see arms and hands reaching down to grab it!)

still its not an ugly game by any stretch. images/smilies/tongue.gif will defo pick this up!

Bioshock has way better fire and water effects than HL2.

I haven't been able to find a PC demo yet. It sounds like it's going to debut on Fileplanet, but it still says "Coming Soon":
